  1. Not only do I think students should not be paid, I also feel that not every student should be mandated to attend school.  Our state just made the minimum drop-out age 18.  Why taxpayer dollars are being squandered on students whose sole goal is to cause disruption or sell drugs in school, is beyond me.

Academic-minded students get their education stolen from them daily by students who do not care.  Let those who "hate school" go and use the money saved to invest in the local police force, where these kids will probably end up at some point.  Most kids, once they realize how hard it is to make it in the real world, will seek their GED or come back to school.

Maybe then, we'll see an increase in those dreaded test scores as well, as the kids who want to learn can and those who deliberately choose to score poorly on them will be eliminated.

  2. What?

    On Earth?

I'm not a teacher but read this out of curiosity, being from a long line of teachers...

  3. I definitely do not think students should get paid to attend school.  It is a blessing in this country that people are able to be educated and they ought to be thankful.

  4. Well, I am a student. I am 13 and I like money , but I do not believe that students should be paid. Why would tax dollars be wasted on our OWN parents paying for school, that pays us. Wouldn't your paycheck be smaller too? If you are a teacher wouldn't you get a smaller paycheck If everyone in the whole school is paid? I really don't think that students, like me, shouold get paid.

  5. No, I don't think so.

I believe that all we do in order to satisfy our natural curiosity and the desire to learn should be voluntary and no compensation should be required. Especially not the financial one.

It's a self-rewarding process and the joy comes from taking the path.

  6. You're kidding, right?  You're getting a free education if you are in public schools.  Your reward comes at the end, when you can read and write (among many other things) and go to college and become a success.

  7. I think we teachers provide a good experience to kids, and truthfully its good for you in the long run.

  8. In the so-called "good old days", it was not what you got if you went to school it was what you got if you didn't -that was the call to action.

  9. i'm not a teacher but students do NOT need to get paid to go anywhere..

a real "student" is one who wants to learn

for all the other lazy bums, just don't go to school

  10. NO. Why would we pay to students to get the education they need to be able to survive as adults? Not only should students not be paid, in reality they should be paying. The state provides free education by paying for education. If students had to pay, they would appreciate it a lot more and we wouldn't hear about students shooting up schools, fighting each other and attacking teachers, because if the students and their families had to pay they would realize what a privilege education really is. Pay students?!?....pfffft....

  11. going to school is a privilege, some countries make you pay
