my dad is a crop duster, and he is in the area flying and so we are taking care of his laundry. The problem I am having is that his clothes all smell like jet fuel (like kerosene). I would like to know if there are any (preferably cheap, have to be easy) tricks for getting that smell out of clothes. I obviously cannot soak entire loads of laundry in coke and boxes of baking soda - so something that I can just put in with the load would be wonderful. thanks!

  1. have you tried vinager or there is a laundry detergent with frebreeze in it. i think its tide. i think the pine sol advise may put stains on your clothes its a little oily feeling (not to be mean to the other person) :)  have a great day

  2. Launder in the hottest water safe for the fabric and add 1 cup baking soda or 1/2 cup borax to the wash. Add 1 cup vinegar to the rinse cycle.

  3. Have you tried Borax?  Available in the laundry aisle.  1/2 cup or so per load, along with hottest water and detergent.

Also wondering if an oil will clean another oil, PineSol in the wash.  Haven't done that, but might work.  Probably need a second wash to reduce the  pine aroma.

  4. citrus based cleaners work well. anything with the word orange on the label is a citrus based cleaner
