To all those who are taking Russia’s side in this war, well I have a question for you, and here it is. Explain why Russia, cut of oil/gas supplies to Ukraine at Christmas, forcing their civilians to live in the cold, over winter. The Russians tried to assassinate the Ukrainian president elected by his own people, with food poisoning. Being British, I was deeply angered by the assassination of a Russian exile, especially when they brought nuclear radiation on the streets of London, exposing it to British civilians. Do you think Russia is right for this other behaviour and other actions it has been committing?

Oh, and don’t try to side step this, and start going on about South Osettia, try and actually answer the question I’ve asked. How about that for a change, eh?

  1. If the war is about Georgia and South Osettia, why are you sidestepping the question and going on about the Ukraine.  I'm not saying Russia is right, but you're doing exactly what you tell people not to do.

  2. It is business matters, only.

    Buyer must pay to seller.

If somebody cant pay, he spend cold long winter firing furniture.

PS Your questions so funny, I am waiting for its more and more.

  3. no russia just can let go of th old soviet satilites

  4. If you would be able to listen-reply was given many times before.

Reply to all your questions- Russia through the history always was liberating, if its bugging US and Europe and they try their best to turn everything upside down, and torn Russia in pieces seeking help from ex Soviet Union countries (dogs in my opinion-the way they act toward Russia) its your problem.

....are you scared of russians? Be, because the justice and peace with us, but we never attack first, but "who comes to Russia with sword, dies from the sword"-was on the gates of our Knjaz (Lord) many years ago, still is.

  5. Ukraine owns Russia $millions$ for that gas/oil. Thats why, no other ways could make Ukrainian government pay for it.

About two other questions: Did Russian say "We did it?"

Maybe they had some motives, but it could be done by anyone to compromise Russia.

There is too much dirty s**t done by any government, so dont blame only one. Take a look at your own first.

  6. Here we go.... as soon as Russia gains some of its former straings - West and its poppets cryout stuff like: return of the Cold War, WWIII and allkinds other gibrish.  Morrally I dont agree with Russias decision, but politically it was a good move. Russia had to make an example that you cant just do whatever you want to it and get away with it.

  7. That was a couple of years ago.

Under an agreement that was to run until 2009, Ukraine was paying a subsidized price for gas at $50 per 1,000 cubic meters. This arrangement was made by the Russians with the former, pro-Moscow regime of Leonid Kuchma in an attempt to keep him in office. When his designated successor Viktor Yanukovych was defeated by pro-Western Viktor Yushchenko in the “Orange Revolution” election last year, Moscow no longer considered Ukraine to be entitled to favorable treatment.  Russia’s position in the gas market is strong enough to practice price discrimination in regard to the former provinces of the Soviet Union, which disintegrated in1991. The Baltic states of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, which have joined the European Union, pay $120 to $125. Belarus, a firm Kremlin ally, still pays only $47 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Moscow, through its state-owned oil company Gazprom, demanded Ukraine pay $220-230 per 1,000 cubic meters, a price that would cripple Ukraine’s heavy industries at the core of its economy. During the crisis, Ukraine’s chemical and metallurgical industries slowed production to reduce demand by 15 to 20 percent, according to a statement released by the Kiev government.  The January 4 agreement which ended the dispute (perhaps only temporarily) sets prices at around $100 and blocks Ukraine from importing gas from Turkmenistan, whose exports also flow through the Russian-Ukrainian pipeline.  The agreement “is Russia's great victory,” declared Ruslan Grinberg, director of the Institute of Economics at the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Nasty bunch of b******s i agree. But if you have ever met anyone from the old Soviet Union you would not be surprised by there actions, and didn't they divert an outgoing pipeline to minimize the impact ?

  8. Hey u, Mr I Know Everything, why should Russia sell their oil/gas to Ukraine at prices that are lower than any reasonable price??? Can u answer this question?? Ukraine wanted just gas, and they did not want to pay for it! Maybe u would like to pay or maybe u'll provide them with free gas and oil?? Go on!

  9. I wonder also the at justification for their actions in Chechnya, in light of their "official" position on Ossetia.

  10. I do not think that Russia's actions in killing that former KGB guy in London were justified.  It reminded me of that Bulgarian dissident in London who was assassinated with a poisonous umbrella.

Russia has also cut off gas and oil to Georgia in the past.  They did it to punish the country for leaning to the West and NATO.  A little underhanded to say the least.

The dioxin poisoning of the Ukrainian president was ridiculous.

I don't think Russia is right for this behavior but I understand why they're doing it.  The West moved entirely too fast in trying to bring former SSRs into the NATO fold.

Also, Russia has historically not played by what the West considers "the rules".

  11. By the way, market prices are beyond $400 per 1k cubic meter. And that is the price European countries pay for this. Ukraine is in fine position to demand lower prices: They control russian export pipe, and if price is "too high", Ukraine can 'redirect' some export gas. This thing is generally called thievery.

  12. I think that region is seriously screwed up but whether Russia is right or not, I think they proved that no one in that region can stand up to them...regardless of their alliance with the West.

Europe and Asia should be concerned, Russia is not the weak country it was after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

  13. Issue 1: If I don't pay my power bill, the power company will stop supplying me with power. That does not make the power company evil.

Issue 2 I think it's likely that people with ties or sympathy to Russia were responsible for poisoning the Ukrainian leader, and that is wrong. But in the absence of any kind of proof, you can't hold the Russian Government responsible for that any more than the Government of Great Britain was responsible for the Shankill Butchers.

Issue 3: Same as #2, but I find it less likely that the Russians were involved. Given that the method of poisoning was basically a huge neon sign pointing to Russia as the culprit, I think it's a better than 50% chance that some enemy of Russia did it.

Still, it is possible that the Russian government was behind both. I certainly don't think the Russians are saints; they, like all countries, pursure their own interests by means both moral and immoral. But even if both poisonings were ordered by Putin himself, Russia still had a right to act in South Ossetia. After all, the US has done some pretty terrible things in Central America, but we still had every right to keep Soviet missiles out of Cuba.

  14. I wasn't gonna comment on this, but the statement that Russia has been always "liberating" is rather hilarious.

If mr. Lucky could list who exactly was "liberated" by Russia during last couple hundred years or even further in the history I'd be very grateful. Perhaps you got liberation mixed up with conquering?

According to the history books I read, Russia (Ok, USSR, but let's face it, Russia was it) successfully "liberated" a lot of countries around them of their independence, that is true.

It is also true that Russia liberated half of the Europe from Germans, along the way "liberating" them from capitalism and bringing them 40+ years of Communist rule. Strangely enough none of those countries today are willing to say thank you to Russia for that part of their history.

In the end, my point is that Russia has been an empire for centuries. And it doesn't matter what is the current system in Russia. One way or another they always try to keep the empire and expand.

Czar Russia conquered a lot of land creating an empire, thus liberating those countries I guess.

Then bolcheviks came to power promising liberate everyone, what happened next the world shouldn't forget soon. Interestingly enough, even though bolsheviks hated everything from Czar Russia first thing they did after ensuring their survival was to restore Russian empire in its old borders. Revolution in 1917 happened in Russia and for a brief time the empire fell apart. Soon after Russian revolution they exported it to pretty much all the countries they reached.

Do you think Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Baltic republics and others ever wanted to be in USSR ruled by Russia? I doubt that. They were conquered again by Bolshevik Russia. Baltic countries survived little longer, but later Ribentrop/Molotov pact did get them too.

So, whatever is happening now is the continuation of the same old politics. History repeats itself. The empire fell apart once again in 1991. Russia is doing again what it has been doing for centuries. Rebuild the empire again... At all costs. Just the situation in the world is different, making things more difficult for Russians.

It's plain and simple,Russia wants to keep former soviet republics in check and control them...

So, pardon if I missed something from Russian history, but as far as it shows, no matter what government is in Russia so far it always tries the same thing, keep the empire, expand it.

P.S. Russia today, just like 70s got powered by oil money. Putin simply concentrated as  much power or pretty much all the power in his hands and is using that money to rebuild Russian military, not Russian economy. I don't think anyoen seriously considers Medvedev to be a real power in Russia. Just watch the news, it's Putin who directs  this whole thing.

BTW, why should we be afraid of Russia if "justice and peace" is with you?

  15. Ok please do not try to display Russia as the "bad guy" as they havent done anything wrong in the past years. Russia cut oil supplies to the Ukraine as Ukraine owes Russia $3.6 Billion and then they have the nerve to ask for free oil for there supposed crisis. Ask yourself this would you give me free oil if i owed you billions of dollars? Yeah , thought so. A Russian tryed to do this , not Russia! There are stupid people everywhere in this world! If you thought that was bad think about what the british are doing to prisoners in Iraq: rape, abuse, intimidation etc. You say they brought nuclear radiation to the streets of London ? That is 100% false. How possibly are you going to get nuclear radiation all the way from Russia to England with all these anti terrorism laws in place. Britian has no nuclear power plants and hopefully never will. So in this case this is a lie it is impossible to do this and living in London for the past 10 years i havent heard nothing of this case. And finally the war with Georgia was purely started by the Georgian president wich he admits! Ask youself another questions, if i stepped on to your land and killed your family and bloodline would you just let me ? Or would u take sworn revenge and attack me back? I hope i've changed your perspective and shown you Russia is not a bad country at all. Sure, it has a troubled history but doesnt every country?

  16. This may be stereotypically American (since I am one), but I agree with you.

  17. You do know that Russia is retaliating against Georgia - not the Ukraine - right?

  18. Because now, the favorite pastime is to hate America and its allies. Don't forget the Jews and the Christians!

  19. Oh, c**p, here we go again.....  Look, Yushenko was not our work, he was sick for 10 years at least, And Ukraine was violating the agreement we made and started stealing gas!, that is unacceptable. And Litvinenko... Well, he was killed by mobs, That's what I think.
