To all those who are taking/have taken Russia's side in this War.

Granted, I did already ask this question a couple of hours ago, it was because of a poor response, that i've asked it again. I would also ask that the answers that are given, actually answer the question that i have asked. Please don't try to side step it.

Question: Irrespective of who attacked who, who shot first. I'll say that again, IRRESPECTIVE of who attacked who, who shot first. Russia, attacked and bombed throughout Georgia, outside South Osettia (conflict zone) It also, invaded parts of another sovereign nation against the will of that country's people. Russia also wanted to remove the democratically elected government of Georgia, and impose a regime that has not been elected, and is not accountable to the will of the Georgian people. These actions are against every agreement/treaty Russia has signed and violates many international laws. This is why the entire international community, condemned Russia's actions as out of order, and why Russia was undeniably in the wrong, for the above actions that it committed.

Just to remind you, irrespective of who attacked who, who shot first. Surely, you all acknowledge that Russia was/is in the wrong, for the above actions that it committed? If you think Russia was right for these above actions, then explain why?

Thankyou.

  1. If you are looking for a definitive right or wrong in a war as old as this, you will only drive yourself mad...

  2. Im not taking any sides.

Russia is pissed off because the Georgians ran their oil pipelines through Turkey and not through Russia after the U.S. basically told them to.

Georgia also allowed the U.S. to put bases in their country and denied the Russians. The Georgians had hostility towards the Russians since breaking from the Soviet Union. Also, the people of South Ossetia were denied independence after many of them became Russian citizens.

The Russians are supposedly protecting their citizens by attacking Georgia.

Russia will not stop until the president of Georgia is ousted or a new President is sworn in.

  3. I get what your saying man S.O. provance is part of Georgia how could they have attack their own country.....They attack Russian backed rebals within the S.O. region (Russia witch granted all of them passports in viloation of internatinal law) invaded saying they have to protect their citizens.....Russia has no right and I am pissed at the lack of  responcefrom NATo they should get off their asses and do what they were made to do and protect freedom from Russian opression ....

Also for those who say Russia didn't plan it come on they were planing it for weeks if not months I m,ean they jsut had 50000 men and 1000 tanks jsut sitting on the border the same day as the olympics....

  4. i absolutly agree with u, even now when Sarkozy met Medvediev and they have a kind of agreement, Russians attacked the town of Senaki and sank coupla georgian ships in the black see,,

how far will Russia go? what else does he want a real war ??! i really ask a question, is there anything the world can do to please russia?!

i guess not, even if we are playing with his rules, he still acts violently!

no excuses for Russias government and politics!

  5. so its ok for georgia to ethnically cleans georgia, georgia for the georgians,

who went  to save the people getting killed ? america? uk? france? nato?

  6. I'll wait for third party independently verifiable reports before i weigh in.  Both sides are throwing the ethnic cleansing and genocide rhetoric all over the place.  I'll have to admit, its hard to know who the bad guy is.

  7. I'm not taking sides either, Russia's just throwing a hissy fit.

  8. Both sides employ 'genocide' rhetoric, lets use some brain:

Both US and Russian media are lying. Thats obvious, as mass-media is a weapon too.

Its difficult to expect any pro-Russian stuff from CNN, right?

On the first day of fighting there was a nice movie by CNN. Featuring dark night and bright flares of starting missiles in the background of voice telling us about Russian invasion. Wait, it was only evening in Georgia and russians have joined war in the midday. It takes time to send the movie to some studio and prepare some breaking-news, at least an hour I'd say. And camera men should travel that to the front, Tskhinvali city is far from Georgian capital city of Tbilisi. So that couldn't be that night, this is previous night: August 07. And there were no russian forces in Georgia at that moment... So missiles are Georgian!

Lets take a closer look on them. They're flying in the very fast rate. Axelerate, then rocket engine stops and disappears in the night. Do you know what this weapon is? It is 'Grad' soviet era indirect missile artillery designed to kill lots of infantry in the field. It is useless against tanks and strongpoints. And it is very inacurate... Warhead turns into numerous splinters on detonation effectively killing everyone around. And 'Grad' provides rain of such rockets. Rain of death.

Do you imagine this? Without declaration of war, warnings et.c. in the middle of night, when people are sleeping at their homes someone bombards city with 'Grad'. This is not a police action against rebels, this attempt to kill as many of them (children, women, everyone) as possible and make others run in terror. That exactly happened. Saakashvili is a war criminal.

  9. what I understand is that part of Georgia wanted to split and become one with Russia (again)...Georgia took measures to thwart this. Was it done with violence? Did the Georgian government bring harm to these people for wanting to split?

Russia definitely has gone overboard...I am not taking any sideI ( I don't like Putin one bit). It's a shame when innocent people fall into harms way, caused by crappy politics (G Bush)  and infighting...but there's always more than one side to a problem.

  10. For the fist question. I guess Russia over reacted, or is it? 2000 Russian citizens (not military killed in this from 120000 nation of Ossetian (doesn’t matter who started it or does it now). Sure this is not genocide and we all cheer Georgia for that. How many people were killed in 9/11? And now we are in the war with the country who didn’t even do that. No body blames USA for that. Right? What Japanese got for the Perl Harbor? Two nukes. Consider Russia is very polite with Georgia.

For the second question. This is a war. If one side doesn’t stop shooting should another side stop. Sure! And let them kill even more people and even military units who is trying to protect them. How do you imagine military protection? They just stand there and wait to be killed? They shoot back and when position of the enemy destroyed they move to the location of this new position. How much you know about battle? Just from the computer games? You can’t stay and don’t shoot and don’t move, you will be destroyed by your enemy if you do so.

But here another aspect that they want to remove a President of Georgia and place a puppet in his place. Sounds just like something we did in Iraq, doesn’t it? And for that, winner is always right (from the history of all wars).

  11. There is no who attacked who. Russia illegally moved troops into Georgia. They had no right or reason to do so. Thus they are in the wrong and their fake cease fire is going to force the US to come to the aid of Georgia.

Now that's not something I wat to see, but we can't sit and watch Russia roll over a country that was trying to control unrest within its own legal borders.
