  1. i started this summer and i'm 11.I don't why maybe because killing animals is cruel.=)

  2. 11

My dad and I went on a bet for a week.

After a week, we made it two weeks.

After two weeks, we made it for life.  Every vegetarian saves 95 animals a year.  I love animals.

  3. I was 13 when I became a veggie and that was 7 years ago. I love animals and interacting with them. I couldn't bear the thought of them being killed. I know what happens when an animal is slaughtered (I've seen it twice on telly when I was so ill I couldn't get up to go out of the room) and from the way the animals behave when  they're being slaughtered they clearly suffer. The same goes for fish when they're caught. I can't bear animals to suffer so I don't eat meat.

Having said that I wouldn't impose my beliefs on other people like a few veggies and vegans do. Each to their own I think.

  4. 16 ( which is what i am now ) for about 3 months ive been vegetarian because i love animals and i think it is horrible to kill them ( especially how cruely they do it) just for people to eat when most of the time there are plenty other options ( unless you have some kind of eating disorder where you need meat ) ..

also even when i did eat meat i always said i would NEVER eat veal & then i realized i was being a hypocrite because i eat other things that are killed just as bad.

  5. i started when i was 14.  at the time it was because it is supposed to be a healthy diet, but then it evolved into an animal rights thing.

  6. I have been a vegetarian since the age of 7 (am now 46) because i was found to have an allergy to first class protiens , even though we kind of grow out of allergies, it just became the norm to continue being a veggie... i know there are people who have the right to their own beliefs and cultures etc. but in all honesty i think being a vegetarian hasnt made much difference to animal husbandry or cruelty to animals.. if the demand is there , there will always be the supply to the demands. I also feel human rights should be more considered than animal rights , because if we had a more humanistic value and approach to life , then animal rights will just be second nature. Every one will save an animal but they wouldnt save their human counterparts, i find this a little confusing.... im not against anyone or anything regarding their beleifs or cultures or religions or personal preference... do what ever you feel that makes you feel more complete and happy .... peace and love to all

  7. I was 22 when I decided to be a vegetarian, 28 when I decided to go vegan.

I chose the lifestyle for a variety of reasons that include but are not exclusive to: animal cruelty, better health and religious convictions.

  8. I was in my thirties when I decided to go veg.  After I turned 30, my body stopped being able to digest meat; I would often feel ill after eating it.  Then one day, I was eating these wings, and I was so disgusted, I decided to go veg that day.  A few months later, after doing some reading, I decided to go vegan.

  9. 20, because I'm pretty picky with my meat and hate it when stupid stuff like chunks of fat or tendon or cartilage gets into my food.  By going veggie I don't have to worry about that.

The fact that I'm not eating something I would kill on my own also has to do with it.  Way I see it, if I couldn't kill the cow myself, what right do I have to have to leach off of someone else work.  This means I actually do have the animal's feelings in mind as well.

When I did eat meat, I always thanked the spirit of the thing I was eating for its sustenance.  Old native American tradition.  I'm 22 by the way.

  10. I may be speaking for the minority of us but, I decided to become a vegetarian at the age of 7. I was quite a head strong little girl and I decided to change my diet when it dawned on me that I was eating an actual animal. I think when you are younger you are taught to detach the actual 'animal' from the food or just simply ignore. I think realisation is probably the reason the majority of young children decide to change their diet to a vegan/veggie one.

  11. 16, i always wanted to be veggie because of animal cruelty. i became veggie at 16 because that was the age where i could cook seperate meals from the rest of my family.

  12. hi their i  have been a vegetarian 4 30 years i am 31 i just refused the meat and why eat animals their is alto of other foods in the world u can eat. how would we feel if the cows slaughtered us for their dinner and kept us in a cold barn . sorry for preaching I know people have to make there own choices but the animals cant speak for themselves  x

  13. hmm I think

    Vegetarian 11

    Vegan 12

    : )

I saw my dad skin a deer... And I saw it die..=(

I live in the south it's common but sad. =(

  14. I was 14. That's when I had biology and learned about parasites.

  15. 16- i felt bad about eating animals, and i also did it for the envirornment

being vegetarian is sooo much better for the environment, especially when you don't eat seafood

  16. i have wanted to be a veggie for years but it was only a few month ago that i went through with it! i did it for the animals

  17. When I was 17, I took an AP Environmental Science course at my high school and learned how eating meat affected the environment as much as pollution or wasting energy did. I thought that it would be hypocritical of me to turn off the lights in one room and then eat a cheeseburger in the next. If I really wanted to change the world (and I did), it had to start with me. Lead by example, right? So I took it one step at a time, cutting out red meat, then chicken, then fish. The media was running around worrying about global warming and trying to drive less to cut down carbon emissions, but how many people realize that it takes 11 times more fossil fuel to produce a gram of animal protein than a gram of plant protein? Then I learned about how healthy vegetarian eating was, and how disgusting factory farm conditions were... it was easy after that. =)

  18. I'm not, but My best friend and my sister are. My best friend grew up in a home where they didn't eat much meat anyways because they were not very well off. She gave up meat at thirteen but she never really ate it in the first place. She just didn't have a taste for it. She'll even wear fur but just does not like meat. My sister is different. She gave up meat when she was about sixteen when she saw and heard some things in school and on-line about the way they mass produce meat in factory's. She loves animals and it just grosses her out. Personally, I say If God didn't want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat? ha ha. To each their own.

  19. 10

to be healthy and nicer to animals.

also mym om was vegetarian so it was easier,

but my mom was vegetarian because she doesnt have the enzymes or something and cant digest meat.

  20. i decided to be veggie when i was about 11 but i took it slowly, no read meat then white meat then i took the plunge and ruled out fish. i'm 13 now and vegan. i had already decided that i was going to go vegan eventually but i couldn't take it anymore knowing what happens to animals just so people can eat it.

so as you can guess my reason was for the animals. a few months back my brother decided to become veggetarian because of cruelty to animals and he said that meat just didn't taste nice anymore. he is ten and it just goes to so that one person can make a differance.

  21. im a vegetarian...im 17 now but become one when i was 14. i had always wanted to be a vegetarian because i love animals! but i never had enough willpower to do so because my family is full of hunters and fishers...but one day i went to peta2.com and saw one of those nasty videos of the slaughterhouses and right then and there i was done eating meat! i havent touched it since! it was actually pretty easy to become a vegetarian after watching that video because every time i craved kfc...i just thought of a poor dying chicken. im a vegetarian because i love animals and now that i think about it, eating meat is kinda gross...its guts for godsakes! EW! haha....i want someday become a vegan, but i dont think im ready for that commitment yet....

  22. I Just became a vegetarian, and I'm 18, I would have started earlier, but my parents wouldn't let me. I did it to become healthier and for the animals, I'm going to try to work my way up to become vegan.

  23. i became vegetarian at the age of 12. I hated the idea of animals being killed they are. It is so evil and i think if animals are going to get killed for food they should be put to sleep and killed peacfully. No blood. Or pain for the animals. I also don't like the way chickens are killed. It is so mean and not neeeded!

    Poor thing's.

  24. The first time I thought about it I was 12 or 13. Then i became a vegetarian in my last year of highschool (UK) when i was about 16.

  25. I decided to be a vegetarian when I was thirteen and I still am. I did it for the health aspect. People who don't eat red meat live longer statistically because of less iron. A steak can stay in your intestines for two whole days, increasing risk of cancer! I also decided not to eat chicken either, just to do the whole 'shibang.' It makes a person feel better (health wise) as well. And even if you love the taste (non-vegetarians never believe me when I say this) it's really really easy to not eat it after about three months. So, here I am, vegetarian!

  26. i was 14 when i started...and I did it for health reasons...but over the years...I'm starting to have more reasons such as the environment and animals.

  27. 11-12ish.

A combo of reasons: Was into eastern religions at the time, suddenly became aware of animal abuse, hated my mom's meat-heavy cooking, and my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer (eating red meat is strongly linked to much higher risk of some cancers).

  28. Forever... When meat was introduced into my diet as a baby I would spit it out. My parents got tired of wasting pork chops on me so they left me alone. I think it may have been due to a texture issue because I still don't like to chew very much. I still do not eat meat and cannot tell anyone that I know what a Big Mac, fried chicken or a hamburger tastes like. Basically I don't eat anything with a face...

  29. I was 9 when I descided that I wanted to go veg and I was 13 when I actually did it and I did it for the animals and to be healthier.

  30. religion
