  1. infisherman.com, northamericanfisherman.com

you can watch outdoor tv shows- in-fisherman, bill dance, jimmy houston, north american fisherman, we live outdoors, bass master, etc...

but the best is going fishing for yourself.... nothing beats your own experience....

  2. http://www.takemefishing.org/ is a very good site, full of all sorts of information, great place for beginning anglers to pick up on some fishing jargon.

  3. the best advice comes from the oldtimers they have a lot of little secrets and are so willing to share them with someone new.just go to your favorite fishing spot and just start a conversation, they will love your company.a website will only tell you the do's and don'ts,but they don't know the secrets of a particular fishing spot.for ex i used to fish at a state park and the catfish there would not take nothing but cut up shad.a few yards down and it became a river divided only by a dam and the catfish(same type) would not even touch a piece of shad with a 10 foot pole, they wanted only "stinkbait".something i learned by watching the more experienced.good luck.

  5. Since you are just starting out I wouldn't want to overburden you with too many good websites, but this one has particularly good info for those just getting into fishing and offers many species of fish, primarily those in freshwater areas.

    http://www.in-fisherman.com/magazine/

This one has lots of tips dealing with many species and water conditions you will likely encounter (eventually).

    http://www.rapala.com/prostaff/protips.c...

This one deals exclusively with bass fishing and has highly informative articles for fisherman of all levels and experience.

    http://www.bassresource.com/

This one deal with (beginners) basics through species specific techniques for many types of fishing.

    http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores...

Hopefully those will help you get well on your way to a great outdoor experience you can enjoy a lifetime.

  6. I'd suggest finding a local guide for your area.  Any local bait shop should have that info, they may even have maps and tips onhand at the bait shop.  I was a lake fisherperson but moved and now I live on a river.  It's very different so I went to a local outdoors show and watched a seminar by a local guide.  Taught me a LOT.  Worth the 45 minutes.

  7. Try:

    www.2coolfishing.com

    www.texaskayakfisherman.com

Look at the message boards (forum).

  8. I like to fish for catfish just for the fight. I always try to keep it simple with a sinker, hook, and sometimes a bobber. This website has hints and tips related to cat fishing as well as shows you how to make tackle out of common things a lot of people have just sitting around. Welcome to the hobby it can be as expensive or as cheap as you want. In my experience the fancier that I get the less fish that I catch. Good luck.

  11. It would be helpful to know what type of fishing you would like to do. Try the free report at this site: www.flounderbytes.com

I would advise you to learn how to fish with jigs. These are versatile lures and catch fish in all types of water... fresh, salt and any water in between.  The jigs may differ in color, style & size but they fish the same. Tight lines!!!
