Jaz have it right, but I remember that it was the holiday that replaced the Corpus Christi holiday.

The Shouter Baptists were given this holiday by the then U.N.C government. Due to their many struggles from waaay back, I think they deserved it. They were also given land off the highway in Maloney where they have started constructing a school.

There holiday is celebrated like any other religious holiday, with lots of devotion and prayer. I think at this time T&T is the only island in the Caribbean that has this holiday and each year it is well attended by Baptists from the rest of the Caribbean and even the U.S.

Nika I think it was Republic day and it was later re-instated.
