Arguments, is it customary for the judge to invite the prosecutor to rebut the defense counsels closing argument even when there hasn't been any other evidence offered up?

  1. Yes.  In any trial, the party that bears the burden of proof argues first and last.   At least that is the way in the u.s.

  2. In a criminal trial in the UK the defence always has the last word. The prosecution would only be able to point out a factual error in the closing arguement, or similar.

  3. From a lawyer.  The prosecutor goes first and last and the defense goes only once but they both have the same amount of time.  This is the way it is done.
