  1. Cozumel shopping has surpassed the simple beach stores. The shops of Cozumel offer a great variety of silver items, clothing and handicrafts. There are great deals to be had on items originating in Mexico, such as jewelry, leather, clothing and the native arts and crafts for which Mexico is famous for.

Textiles are another important product and express Mexico's geographic and cultural diversity.

Cozumel has three main shopping areas: along the waterfront downtown, the crafts market behind the main Plaza, and the cruise ship passenger terminal, just south of town where you will find an infectious party atmosphere, conducive to colorful stalls and serious bargaining. If a cruise ship stays late (most leave early evening), these shops stay open to late.

The Punta Langosta Mall is an important, modern shopping mall in Cozumel. It has many stores where you will find everything you are looking for, from renowned clothing shops, to silver stores, and restaurants. This is the perfect place for an American-style shopping day.

    enjoy)

  2. Go to cozumel.com.  Look on your page of options until you find cozumel.com.  Open that site up and there will be a message/chat room.  Other than that I suggest you go to the library and get an official travel guide.  One for Cancun would include Cozumel, as well.

In that area of that part of Mexico the best place to buy souvenirs and jewelry is at the ruins, Chichen Itza.  Hopefully, your family is planning on visiting them by bus.  They are hungrier there and you can practice your bargaining skills.  They are open to about anything.  In Cancun, Cozumel or any of the other touristy towns the open markets are no longer cheap.  Prices have really gone up in Mexico.

  3. Try this site:

The cotton dresses are so cute.

Hammocks and silver and leather goods are all popular items as well.

If you go up a couple of blocks from the waterfront you can barter (in fact it is expected)

Also prices drop in the evening after the cruise ships leave (which won't help you any if you are a passenger on one of said ships...)

There are lots of open-air vendors, some larger stores like cinco soles, lots of little hole-in-the-wall places, and Chedraui (Mexico's answer to Wal-Mart) is not to be missed!  It's across the street from the Cozumel Palace.

  4. There are lots of jewelry shops, beautiful carved items, marble chess sets and other marble items, the usual souveinors, clothing stores and shoes and leather items. To much to list.Have fun.

  5. Its the most beautiful beach in the world!!!! Best trip in my life. It beats Hawaii hands down. Its like swimming in a pool, that clear and clean.

    best of luck

  6. Family (me/wife/3yo/6yo) went last summer.

The beaches are known for scuba diving mostly.  There's not alot of sand, but it's nice enough.

There's not much to do on the island however.  Most of it is preserved.  The resorts offer most of the entertainment.

We did take a day trip in a rental car around the island.  It's is amazing how nice the beach is all around the island.

However, be forewarned, that not all beaches are open and they do have salt-water crocs in some areas.

There's plenty of "what to do" booklets.

Cancun is just a quick ferry ride away if you want to do real shopping.

    have fun.
