I was thinking of applying for a job with NCLA. Anyone who has ever worked on a cruise ship care to share your experience. Pros? Cons? I have heard that the money is great....

  1. Hi, I worked for 10 years on the ship. It really is a fab fab life.  You do work very very hard.  But the pro's are seeing the different ports meeting loadsa new people.  The passengers LOVE the waiters as one of the main reasons they go on the ship is to eat the wonderful food, if you excel and are charming   then the tips will come flooding in.  You will recieve a basic wage per month, and obviously tips are on top of that. You will have the share your cabin with another waiter.  Work as I say is hard and can be long hours, but when you work hard you play hard to there is a crew bar on board, which almost everyone goes to, which can be a dangerous place, if you have to get up early the next morning for work.  But if you dont want to go the crew bar you can always go to the crew gym.  Go for your life go and get the job, you wont regret it, why not apply with Princess as well...good luck

  2. Hi,

sorry fo not giving you answer, but try i like and i heared that there is alot of facilities and you will visit alot of territories as well and you will see different peoples with the different cultures

  3. We went on a carnival cruise.. and the one thing my group noticed is how bad the staff were treated.. The yelled at them in front of guests... they were not allowed to speak much... it was just awful.. every turn was someone getting yelled at.

  4. I have worked on Carnival, RC, ad NCL as a consultant. I reccomend Carnival. It is fun for you as well as your guests. If you are going for the money then check out Cunard, Seabourn, Crystal, or Celebirty. The people on those cruises can be very wealthy and appreciate a good waiter. Good Luck!
