  1. The answer of the previous poster is superb but I just need to add that I feel Phu My Hung is combined by 3 words in Vietnamese language:

    Phu: rich

    My: beautiful

    Hung: develop

  2. My house in Saigon is not far from Phu My Hung. My wife and I usually shop at the Co-Op market or FiviMart in Phu My Hung. I took my wife on a date to eat pizza at Pizza Hat (a Pizza Hut knock-off), which is about 2 blocks West off the main drag. I got my cell phone and wireless internet service from the EVN Telecom office in Phu My Hung. We get bread at the new bakery a couple doors down from the EVN Telecom office.

The amusement park in Phu My Hung has never been open since I started living in my Saigon house. Ironic for Vietnam, I heard there's a safety issue that has kept the park from opening.

I so badly want to play golf on the golf course at the East side of the village. It's only an easy 9-hole, but it's also lit for night golfing.

Phu My Hung is very popular with the Viets, because that is where the rich Americans live and it's one of the first planned communities in all of Vietnam. The Russians are starting a similar village not far from Phu My Hung. Many of the development concepts from Phu Myh Hung are being duplicated in other parts of Vietnam.

Here's a few Web sites about Phu My Hung:

    http://www.phumyhung.com.vn

    http://www.saigonsouth.com

    http://www.vienglish.com/category/phu-my...

By the way... It's PHU MY HUNG (foo mE hOng), which roughly translates to American Village in English. You should easily see why it is called Phu My Hung, because it looks like you're in an American suburb instead of Vietnam. Wait till you see when the rest of the village when it is built out!

So what do you want to know about Phu My Hung?

As for Friendster, here's what I wrote in another question:

Friendster is not a person or place in Vietnam. It is a social Web site similar to MySpace. The Viets and other Asians seem to prefer Friendster over MySpace for reasons unknown to me. Most all Viets use Yahoo and many younger Viets will likely have a Friendster profile instead of a MySpace profile. You can check it out at: http://friendster.com

    Have a great time there!
