What are the advantages, have you seen any skin improvements, why I ask is cos I suffer really bad from blackheads (have done since the age of 12, i'm 25 now) and wondered if the mask might open up the pores and help make it easier to eliminate the blackheads, i've tried everything else including various treatments and pills from the doctor over the years but nothing has worked, they are just too stubborn and won't go away, anyway thanks in advance, any tips would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Sauna definitely helps! I used to live in Finland where everyone uses the sauna all the time and the Fins all have perfect skin.

You can replicate a sauna at home: put your face over a bowl of hot water and cover with a towel. You should also use natural products as opposed to chemical ones, e.g. Burt's Bees and Dr Hauschka, or Ren. They all have very good masks.

I would also reccommend using 'Tejaswini' pills for skincare. They are completely natural and I used them when nothing would cure my stress-related acne. They are available from Victoria Health (online), they basically clear out your liver and it works on all skincare problems.

I would say try sauna a few times a week, plus once or twice a week an exfoiliating scrub and/or clay mask. And don't forget, water water water! Another product you might find useful is the Dr Stuart Skin Purify tea. Tastes bland but very effective.

  2. If i was in your shoes right now i would go to a store and buy one. They open your pores, kills bacteria, dirt, grime, impurities, makes your skin clearer, soft skin, lessens spots, blackheads and pimples. I use it at least 3-4 times a week. And yes i have seen skin improvements

  3. heya

yh i have one and use i regularly. it does open up the pores and it does get rid of blackheads. i have them loads as well as im 14 and do suffer from spots and blackheads so yeh it really helps. what also works with me recently is i exfoliate using a really rough exfoliater  like a foot one cause it gets deep into your pores. sounds gross using something for feet but it actually works. i got boots "spa" one. it does work. anyway hope iv helped you there =)

  4. Steam is great for opening up the pores.  In your case if you only steam you wont get any benefits, in fact opening the pores may make it worse unless you use a scrub and wash it all away

Cleanse your skin and put on a good facial scrub BEFORE you steam and leave it on, after 5-8 minutes of steam turn it off and give your face a really good scrub.  After steaming, tone to close up the pores again.  Then apply your mask, leave for 10 minutes and remove.  Tone again and moisturise afterwards.

If you can afford to go to a salon once a week for a facial and ask them to do extraction for you (squeezing out the black heads with a small tool)
