To architects and Civil Engineers How high can buildings get?

This one isn't even completed and it's already is the tallest in the world, And there are others yet to be built that will surpass it. Like the one called "The Mile High Tower"

  1. I think we can find plenty of documentation showing that if buildings are made taller than 10 stories, people's brains will burst as they try and climb the stairs.  I predict by 1899 we will have built the tallest building that can be built.


  2. The sky is the limit or at least the budget is.

    We can build one that is over a mile tall easily but the costs of building it and the costs of running it would not make much financial sense in most places.  Also, you have to consider the logistics of running a tall building like that.  It takes a lot of infrastructure to keep a place like that running.

    There are limits due to the FAA and airspace but for purely engineering reasons, there is not a limit that I can think of.
