To be a female talking head on a cable news channel, do you have to be reasonably attractive?

Actually, if you remove the coats of make-up that some of them wear, they're not half as gorgeous as they look. I actually went to interview Natasha Kaplinsky, one of our newscasters, who is absolutely beautiful, but beforehand when I got to see her in the dressing room, she had a lot of wrinkles and blemishes on her skin that made her look quite old.

But to be on TV, you've got to at least have a face well proportioned enough to work with; you've got to be pretty, the rest they can sort out.

It surely seems that way doesn't it?  And they seem to be required to show their knees.  Not fair is it ?
