Question:

To be a marine or not to be?

I'm planning on going to college later on as soon as boot camp is over, I'm joining as a marine reserve mechanic. My parents (of course) are terrified and are doing all possible to keep me from going. I've heard bad stories about the marines, yet when I talk to my recruiter and some people that are in it I hear nothing but good things about it. What are my chances of getting deployed? I live in Las Vegas so my base would be Nellis Air Force Base. I've heard my chances are low, but are they really? I'm supposed to go to boot camp in a month and I want to make sure I'm making the right choice.

  1. I dont know but Im gonna do that if Im persuaded about the navy seals

  2. Just tell them you changed your mind and want to become a Ranger instead. You will find they change their minds and the Marines will be just fine.

  3. If you're joining for the free education then don't join.  Reserves do get called up to fight every now and then.

  4. my cousin was out of mos school for 10 days and he was reserve and got his call he was being deployed to iraq......you don't join to be scared of deployment. befor you join you need to understand that you could die you could lose a limb once you come to terms with that..signing the paper is much easyer..
