1. depends. It sounds like you want to be a stylist or a fashion designer. You can also do editing. Go to FIT or Parsons to learn about fabric, how to draw, etc/

  2. maybe major in fashion & textile technology

  3. You would start off with a fashion and design course at a college, thats what i have done here in the UK, this then leads you onto a degree course at a university, where you choose to study one of many aspects of fashion. This course which i did was a national diploma in fashion and it really helped me make my choice, of which area of the subject i wanted to carry on with at a degree level. Working for a magazine, i think you would go into fashion journalism this is about the text you read in fashion magazines and you would need a very good grade in English for this but i think you mean to throw clothes together for people as a Stylist, I'm not to sure on which path to go on from this i guess you would just study fashion and choose from there how you become a stylist as you progress at university.

As your in NYC the only place i have heard of is Parson's school of art & design, look around visit a careers advisor's type in google "fashion schools in new york city".

    Good Luck

  4. Go to college for a full degree. If you work hard, you can do it in 4 years. You'll earn much more respect AND money. Try to get into any magazine you read. It's the start that is the hard part. Once you're in, and you earn some references, you're on your way! Good luck!

PS: Wear your pumps to work! wink wink

  5. You can major in fashion design/merchandising at a lot of different schools. FIT is one of the major, really good ones. RISD (risd.edu) has a apparel design major.

  6. (Four Years to get a B.A. in Journalism)

Major in Journalism, specializing in "Magazine & Photo" Journalism...which means your Junior and Senior year of college, you take nothing but upper division elective magazine and computer and photo classes that you feel would train you in what you want to "be" the best...(might as well get an English minor, while your at it, because all those journalism classes "count toward" an English minor...)
