  1. First of all, no. Obviously, having seriously impaired vision that couldn't be corrected would make you a lousy pilot. Having at least vision correctable to 20/20 is a big plus because it improves your ability to spot runways in bad weather and avoid collisions with other planes. But it's definitely not the most important thing. Good decision making and an instinct for appropriate stick and rudder actions are way more important.

As for your hobbies affecting your sight, do some research. Most of the fears about things like poor lighting and long working hours causing permanent eyesight damage are myths. You're not going to ruin your vision unless you stare into the sun or allow something to get in your eye.

Still, it's good practice to avoid eyestrain. Try to use good lighting, and if you are doing something that requires staying focused on things that are very close to your eyes, take at least a five minute break every hour. During breaks, either close your eyes or look in a relaxed way at something far away.

  2. Eye sight is very important but they allow corrective lenses now a days as long as you can see 20/20 with glasses.

  3. Yes - eye sight alongwith no physical imperfections will make you pass the test.

To preserve your eyesight do not read in poor light, while lying down or with the matter closer than 9 inches from your eyes.
