  1. have to agree with you guys  .....look after your own first ....charity begins at home .....i mean in your  own country ....sorry if that offends you but thats what i think

  2. Good question mr struth. I agree completely with you. I never seen the program last night but from what I have heard it was excellent. Like yourself, I contribute to a couple of charities who are UK based as I would rather my donation was spent closer to home.

  3. as they say charity begins at home and I think we should be helping out our own underpriledged in the uk first before we do abroad, and that is no disrespect to anyone else.

  4. nice one struth. my son has just come back from a holiday in france with the RNIB.its a charity run organisation . so i am in dept to these folk greatly . i think that one person on the site mentioned a charity shield . think it would be a great idea. struth i know what you mean about Malawi but these people are in dire straights .our government is a disgrace when it comes to charity as they give them very little relief.also some folk just rip the hole out of it .it opened my eyes when we started doing our bit, just how much some folk take take take.

  5. There is enough cash floating about in this country to feed Malawi and sort out all of the poor. It's just distributed unfairly (in my opinion).

  6. so sad to see the older woman making the statement on the progamme that she used to be house proud but now lives in degrading conditions.dont get me started on giving money to other countries.CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME

  7. As this is a football forum how about a charity match. I'm sure you could get several teams represented i.e. old firm fans of the forum playing each other Aberdeen v dundee utd etc.It would also give the forum people a chance to mee each other and noise up the losers on this forum

  8. great idea mr struth...I give to Great Ormond street as my son was there for a long time and they saved his life....

I have always thought if we all gave £1 from our monthly wage there would be less poverty and less need for good people to doante

    just a thought!!

  9. Is this football related in any way? Is Scottish football so boring you need to discuss unrelated topics here? That's poor...

  10. that is a hard one to judge nobody is starving to death in possilpark  but they are in malawi although in saying that charities here could do with better funding i would hate to be the one who decided what monies went where

  11. YES it would be good

as then they would feel as not all things in life are a struggle

it would be nice for everyone to dig deep and make those less fortunate than ourselves, feel as if they are equal

  12. no offence to anyone but i also agree that charity begins at home..i give to two regularly..cancer research and yorkhill because they mean something to me...i also give to some others and mean as it may be..i'm sick of giving to overseas charities when we have enough to deal with over here....my dad has to miss out on necessary medication because of funding..wtf..deal with our own first..others later..

  13. One of the reasons we left the UK was the unfairness of a system that gives extra money in benefits to alcoholics and drug abusers. The people who deserve it never get. I did not see the programme in question (probably see it over here in 1 years time) Re places like Malawi I do not doubt that they need handouts from the rest of the world. but as my dad used to say 'charity begins at home'.

Not only do the aforementioned get extra benefits they are also given assistance with fares if they attend outpatients clinics and if they go into hospital for other procedures. OAP's don't get all this help neither do children with disabilities. I could go on forever!!!!!!!!!!

Haven't been on the forum for about 2 months as just too hot to stay in doors. Good to see you back on Struthie and if you don't mind me asking how is young Joe?

And I get a thumbs down for telling the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!some things neverr change
