To free hard disk space

Sir,I have Dell XPS 1210 laptop in that C: drive has a capacity of 100 GB; it shows 62 GB occupied and 38 GB is free. But after exploring C: drive and selecting all files & directory including hidden folders (control A), checked property then it shows only 32 GB occupied. I wanted to know where the 30 GB occupied and how to clear the space.Regards
