  1. I thought that to get into Oxford or Cambridge you had to sit an exam called th Oxbridge - only if you pass that could you get in - but this might just be for certain subjects.  why not look at their web sites and that should give you the info. you need.

  2. Yes. Most top-tier universities don't care about GCSE results as long as they're vaguely reasonable which those are. A-Level results + personal statement are going to be far more important.

  3. GCSE's arent as important as A levels..but in A levels if you dont get all A's in your chosen subject theres no point in applying...not too sure whether extra curriculum makes much of a difference but it looks good anyway

  4. Yes and any other bloody University on the planet.  They could even pay you for the privilage.  good for you our kid.

  5. Yes.

If you choose an obscure subject like any of the sciences you should easily get in. If you choose English or law you'll have a fight as places are a premium.

    Good luck.

Remember there are lots of good universities out there, don't pin all you hopes on getting into OxBridge.

  6. Well Oxford/Cambridge are the top universities of the world I'm talking #1 good so to get in you have to literally be the best of your grade with perfect grades and I don't think curriculum activities such as sports will really help you out because I think grades are the most important but schools in America are all for the extra curriculars =D

  7. Not unless you score extremely well on your SAT's. My sister was salutatorian at a school of 1900 with straight A's all the way through. She couldn't get into an Ivy league school but she did get scholarships to U of I. Think more realistic and apply to your dream schools plus many back up schools you never know maybe they will need to fill a spot. This sounds bad but it is true if you are a minority then you are only competing against other minorities not completely but to a certain extent. Good Luck

  8. It depends on which subject your going for, usually GCSE's aren't used unless there are many candidates with the same A levels and not much on their UCAS form but in History you take an exam called the HAT which shows them how capable you are which would iron out any problems in your GCSE's.

If you have A's in you AS levels I see no reason why you shouldn't apply to Oxbridge and as someone who has gone through the process I can say that it's not as intimidating as it may seem. The people deciding on who gets in don't care what kind of school you went to (despite what you read) and as long as you show you've a passion for your subject you stand a chance!

    Best of luck!

  9. It depends on the course that you are trying to get into. The colleges require certain subjects too and you still need an interview. Your extra curriculars don't necessarily mean you have the right personality for the course if they're all wrong for it. The subjects and activities need to be tailored to the course and you need to show some kind of dedication to academia. I'd advise getting in contact with the college yourself to find out.
