i have a facial deformity /birth defect...we aren't even sure if it is a birth defect just yet. but i went to the neurologist and they said that there is a surgery that i can get to correct that...another issue is that my face twitches at random moments...especially when I'm stressed...it bugs me a lot because all of the pics i have are being taken of the right side...the only worry i have about surgery is that i don't want to have to go through it all and then something bad happens...so what should i do?

  1. There is no rush to have an elective surgery. So take your time thinking about it.

Ask lots of questions, write out the pro's and con's and discuss your concerns with the surgeon.

You can also ask to speak with another patient who has had this surgery too and ask them the results, the pro's and con's that they felt they had during and after the surgery.

All you can do is weigh it all out and you don't have to overnight. If your surgeon is a good one, she/he will let you take your time deciding without pressuring you, will warn you about an risks and will answer all of your questions without trying to sway you.

Any type of surgery has risk.

  2. if it bothers you, you should definitely do it.
