  1. No, but because the A and B blood groups are dominant, both parents would have to have a recessive O gene.

Nope, I recently found out at my last OB appointment I'm type O blood, my mom is B and my dad is A+.  The clinic even double checked and told me that it is not uncommon to be O with neither of the parents having the O gene, it has something to do with the Rh, just rest assured it's possible, I'm living proof!

    I'm pretty sure one of the parents needs an O.
