To have a fax machine do I need 2 phone lines?

How much more do extra phone lines range in the us. Is there anything else I need to have a fax machine?

If you want someone to be able to fax you at any time and without notice, yes, you need two phone lines. I'm not sure how much another line is.

If you can just switch out the phone plugs to fax something out or if you know when you will be receiving a fax, then no, you don't need two lines.

We have a fax machine but don't use it often enough to warrant having another phone line. I just unplug the phone and plug the fax in any time I need to send/receive a fax- works just fine! :-)
