To help her or not to help her??????

Question

one of my friends called and left a message on my cell telling me she needed to talk to me about family issues. i called her back and we talked for a while....of corse she seemed upset but i dont really have any ideas for cheering her up or anything...i really hate seeing my friend this way but i dont know if i should try to help along or if i should just step aside and let her handle it herself plz help me!! thanks in advance
