To help the poor people of the world and disaster relief, which is the most effective NGO to give to?

Medecins sans Frontiers and the Red Cross/Red Crescent/Magen David Adom are both excellent. Save the Children UK is also very good.

I tend to give to CARE International, per their focus on women and children, who are the most affected by disasters, wars, etc. They are very much into capacity-building, not just relief efforts.

Medecins sans Frontiers is a secular, international group comprised of volunteer doctors and nurses who deliver aid when and where it is most needed. I donate regularly, and recommend them. Red Cross also do very good work in these situations.
