Depends on the motorcycle club.  Even some of the hardcore American bike clubs will tolerate a classic Triumph or Norton.

Anyway, join a club that'll have you as a member.

Harley mentality. I have an old  BMW airhead and I belong to the Airheads MC patches and all. There are many sport bike clubs as well

There is a very patriotic mindset in the biking community because riding represents freedom. Besides that, if you know your history a bit the first motercycle clubs were largly comprised of disenfranchised veterans that did not want to come home and join main stream society after all the c**p they saw and went through, they truly wanted and valued thier freedom and privacy.

It is a mind set like any other thing, motorcycle gangs, better known as clubs these days are all over, some are big on that issue and some aren't. For instance you wouldn't join the Harley Riders Association if you rode a Honda.

Why NOT?  They get to make the rules, and if you want to join, then get to work on buying an Excelsior Henderson Super X.

Because that's what they ride. Although, back in the 80's I saw an HA riding a BMW and I know some members of the Vietnam Vets/ legacy Vets who ride Roadstars.

You apparently have no idea what is required to become a patch in a club. They don't just give them away. I think it would be best to not concern yourself with any of the clubs out there unless your willing to take on the responsibility of doing such.
