A proposal has come to India to marry away a girl in France. I want to know how much the boy should earn to live decently staying in an independent accomodation with wife and two kids. Note that I do not want the wife to go for earning.

  1. The mean annual salary in France is  Ã¢Â‚¬70,126 for  professionals such as Physicians and Barristers and €39,360 for Executives and management staff.

The net average annual earnings was €20,440 in 2004.

  2. In Europe the wife has to go  for earning as you put it its impossible to live decently otherwise. I guess you need over 20,000€ yearly and more if the wife is not working to live a decent life.

  3. It depends in what place....because life is most expensive in Paris and great towns...but more attractive...

It depends also on the age of the kids, if they go in a private school.....

I would say, to live decently in Paris, you have to earn at least 3000 euros per month for 4 people, 4000 euros is better.

To rent a flat you have to pay at least 1200 to 1500 euros for a 3 rooms flat.

  4. Around 3000 euro after tax would be enought but hard in Paris.

4000 would be better for 4 people to live a good live.

I know some who live in Paris suburb with half of it.
