I have a FT job lined up in the city for june. I will be working all day in the city 12-15 hrs a day in investment banking. Should I live in NYC or Long Island. Even though LI is a bit cheaper, the cost of commute brings the cost of living between the two to an equal amount. Should I work and live in NYC. or should I work in NYC and take the 45 minute one-way commute to LI, Franklin Square. ? I am a 21y/o male. thanks!

  1. If they both come out about the same financially, I'd take the one that is closer to the job.  Commuting for 1 1/2 hours each day isn't going to  be fun.

  2. Neither, how about Weehawken, NJ

  3. I am from New York City. Actually from Brooklyn and I worked in Manhattan. Believe it or not, the commute from Brooklyn to mid-Manhattan was 1.5 hours.

I think it would be more fun and interesting to live in New York - it's such a great city - so many things to see and do. If you find an apartment close to your job, it's possible you could even walk there which would eliminate the horrendous commute.

    Good luck and enjoy!
