To lock or not to lock my luggage?

I am about to go backpacking for the first time. I bought a really good backpack however it has about 3 zips and openings. Do you think its necessary that i lock all of them?? Or is that a little extreme.

I wouldn't bother locking anything especially if you plan to fly . there isn't a lock made that somebody can't get into. just make sure you don't pack jewelery in, keep that and any other valuables on your person.

i would lock it because something may go wrong

You're actually not supposed to lock up your luggage. They'll most likely cut it off if they find something supicious about it, so I wouldn't bother using locks.

You can go to any Walmart or Target or any stores to buy special locks approved by TSA  - You can lock it and TSA people at the airport have the masterkey to unlock it if they suspect something then will lock it -- There you go!

I wouldn't lock your backpack. I mean since it's a backpack keeep it really close to you.
