If you are a hard core left-winger, would it make any difference to you if someone could prove to you, through historical and academic context, that contemporary Democratic policy goals are socialist in nature and get their foundation in socialist philosophy, would it change your mind at all?

  1. No.  "Socialist" is such a dirty word in the US.... people assume it is the same as Communism.  Something being "socialist in nature" doesn't mean it is necessarily bad.  Public education could be considered socialist in nature!

If you could convince me a Democratic policy goal was BAD or WRONG, then I would change my mind...  Not throwing around a word that makes people paranoid.

  2. I wish I were born in a socialist place like France or Sweden.

If you dont too, you have to be an idiot

  3. Why would they?  Liberals embrace socialism as the saving ideal of America.

  4. No. Socialism includes a military designed to protect us all, public education for all, government agencies specifically designed to protect our health, our nation's borders, our environment, etc., etc.

We all live within the context of a great American Society. And still more of us exist within the social confines of our Church communities, which are purely socialist in the aid, comfort and support they offer to their members and to those who are suffering in our society.

  5. I choose what i want to believe, not what someone tells me to believe.

  6. The Democrats are not socialist, they are fascist.

Lets ignore FDR fascism for a moment and deal with Democrats and the last few years.

When Clinton took office his administration began an all out war on "right wing gun nuts".  Federal Law enforcement became abusive and excessive to the point where a woman and her baby were killed by FBI agents who engaged in illegal entrapment and then attacked the woman's home without identifying themselves.  Then there was driving a tank into the side of a church, which was also determined to be a case of illegal entrapment by a court of law.

By 1995 many in the United States had become afraid of the government excess and Timothy McVeigh attacked in Oklahoma City.

Senator Biden proposed an anti-terrorist bill designed by him to address the national security problem presented by the Right Wing's response to illegal entrapment, search and seizure by the Clinton Admin.  This legislation was rejected at the time, but, a watered down version eventually became the Patriot Act.

Biden did not get the FDR style wholesale rounding up of US citizens that he wanted back in 1996, but, if he is elected he just might.

This is all really well documented.  Stay away from the propaganda websites.  Stick to judicial opinions and government reports.

PS: No educated and compasionate person could belong to or support the Pro-Slavery, Anti-civil Rights, Pro-Segregation Democratic party that is so proud of it's pro-slavery history that they use Andrew Jackson's pro-slavery donkey symbol to this very day.

Andrew Jackson is arguably the best documented 1/4 black President.

Thomas Jefferson is the first 1/4 black president although documentation on this is sketchy because Jefferson apparently did his best to cover it up.

  7. they wouldn't care...all they care about is a woman's right to choose..and midnight basketball and baby bonds

  8. All liberals live in a fantasy world, you could rub their nose in their own dirt and they would call it perfume.

  9. No. I got into this conversation with someone about hillary being a socialist, her response, "whats wrong with that?"

People want somethign for free. but they fail to see where its really comming from.

  10. I am not a socialist. I think I am fully educated and fully versed in the issues to figure out that I do not support socialists. However, prove your case. It won't make me vote for McCain, but I am always up for FACTUAL information from reliable sources.

  11. Nope.  Our policies are based on the constitution, on strengthening our country and the power of the middle class that ensures democracy.

But, let's look at corporate welfare and bailouts ... can you explain to me how taxing us to pay for corporations is not socialism?  That would be a platform value of the republicans -- privatize the profits, socialize the losses.  You need to look in the mirror and open an economics and history book, sorry but stealing from the poor to give to the rich leads to anything but democracy and that's what YOUR party votes for.

  12. no...that's the attraction...I AM my brothers keeper

  13. TOS answer: No.  There are too many other variables to consider.

First, I'm not a Dem.  But I am liberal.

You are under the mistaken impression that liberals want to give everybody everything, for free.  That is far from the truth.  We, like conservatives, believe in personal self-reliance.  The difference is that we recognize that current social and economic factors often prevent that from happening for some people, and we believe that those who truly need a "helping hand" should get it, whereas conservatives believe that those who need a "helping hand" are simply lazy.

We also believe that the free market which cons so religiously believe in will NOT provide that "helping hand", therefore the government must step in to fill the gap.

For example, think about it this way: what is better for the nation as a whole?  That each citizen has access to affordable *preventive* health care, or that 48 million people get so sick they have to use the ER?  Which is more cost effective in the long run?  Who pays for those ER visits when those poor people can't pay for it themselves?

Very few liberals advocate total socialism (they do exist, and I don't agree), but the majority of us believe in supplemental help to give people the opportunity to become self-reliant.  We believe in a "hand up", not a "hand out".

  14. Our society is a joke, nothing we do can change that unless we systematically reestablish everything we know to be true. So no it would not change my mind

  15. You can draw comparisons to almost anything.  You can compare Republican philosophy to a Feudalistic society, which would be worse than a socialist society.

    Vote McCain

  16. Socialism is not the end of the world.

  17. they just want control of everything and to raise taxes....

  18. Sure, show me how Democrats plan to take over the means of production.

  19. I don't know what the label "socialist" means.  But if it means making life better for all Americans, not just those who can afford it, then I'm hard core and won't change my mind.

  20. What?? That is exactly what they want! Of course it would not change their minds

  21. Yes, Democrats are socialists. They plan to steal the hard working taxpayers money to give to the people that don't like to work and play video games. Obama has some nice big taxes planned for all taxpayers. You need to realize this isn't just for the rich. It's you!

I can't respond to such a vague question - please expand on your theory.
