To make it to the big time, did most of the boxing stars sacrifice most of their social lives?

when they were younger and everything? to the point that they were loners? Because of constant dedication im thinking....

  1. I know that Ray Leonard had trouble relating to his first 2 sons because he was busy being "Sugar".  If memory serves, his second son doesn't speak to him.  I know that one of Joe Frazier's son doesn't speak with him either, and that Kenny Norton and his son didn't speak for years.


  2. no. they put in championship training while at the gym. a lot of fighters train to fight but still do party and have normal lives. where as others just show up at the gym and live like a "normal" person. I know a lot of boxers who friends are boxers or in the boxing community. thats important. whatever a fighter surrounds himself with out of the ring will give him his focus and make his social life easier for him

  3. to be successful one must sacrifice. that applies to boxing and everywhere else in life

  4. If you look at most great people in any field they sacrificed something.  There is a focus and dedication to becoming truly great, and sometimes that means the exclusion or detriment of family, relationships, etc.
