To mothers: what do you do to boost your self esteem while pregnant?

Of course I know the miracle it is to conceive and I am very happy about being a mom for the first time, can't wait for my baby to be here, etc. But when I look in the mirror it's been really frustrating! I haven't gained a lot more weight that I'm supposed to, I guess (18lbs at 30 weeks) but my face is really big and nothing I have seems to fit! And I'm single, so there's no hubby or boyfriend to cheer me up. :) I'm not depressed, just wondering what you girls do to keep your self-esteem in balance while pregnant.

  1. 18 lbs at 30 weeks isn't too much.  You don't want to gain over 40 if you can help it though.

Of course your clothes aren't going to fit right. Everything is going to be too tight or too big.  That comes with the territory.  Not everyone can afford to go out and buy special clothes.

You say your face is big.  You are probably swelled.  It happens to the best of us.  Drink plenty of water.

Take care of yourself as best as you can.  Keep shaving, Wear make-up, polish your toes, do your hair, etc.   Just because you feel "fat" or bloated doesn't mean you shouldn't pay attention to pampering yourself.

Take walks and do some pregnancy exercises to help lift your spirits.

  2. As a single pregger I enjoy having a pedicure every 2weeks. Its just something little I do for myself and look forward to doing. Not to mention how relaxing it is to soak your tired feet in warm water and lay back in the leather chairs! There is something about having my toes painted and feet soft that makes me feel s**y especially in sandal weather. (ooh and sometimes I will wear a really cute little toe ring) If pedicures aren't your thing try a manicure :) Good Luck you hot mama!

  3. I guess the one thing that I did was actually put make up on and make myself all dressed up on the days that I was like ahhhh I don't feel to good. But just know that you are beautiful and are creating a miracle inside of you and enjoy all the moments that it brings you.Good luck with the baby!!!!!

  4. I go to the gym...though I've always been into exercise so continuing to go to the gym after I got pregnant wasn't so hard for me. But going to the gym while pregnant shows how dedicated you are to staying in shape. Even though I felt unattractive with the changes in my body, I got lots of compliments, and people really cheered me on throughout the whole pregnancy. It was very encouraging and lifted my spirits.

  5. Well first off I just want to tell you that your weight sounds right on target & you prolly have the cutest little squish pretty baby face because of all the extra fluid NOT fat face :)

But to your question, I always keep my hair blown out, nails done, and look as pretty as I can everytime I leave the house I do not indulge in sweats & things when going outside cos looking grundgy gets me down I take a nice stroll looking as pretty as I can with my big silly belly lol & believe it or not my faux confidence still gets me cat calls (and YES i look preg, im 28 weeks)

If it makes you feel any better nothing I have 'fits' either, or @ least not the way it used to Just yesterday I was looking in the mirror feeling so foolish cos I put on this shirt that was huge on me 5 months ago & now im huge in it!

If trying to look pretty & all else fails I just look at myself & giggle What a silly cute little body we have now that we are preg One day when we're feeling extra crazy, we just may miss it

  6. I know how you feel. It's hard to deal with all of the changes. But, a boyfriend/husband doesn't necessarily make the difference. Mine likes to tell me that he can't wait for me to be skinny again and that my butt has become flat while pregnant. Doesn't exactly cheer me up, lol. You are so beautiful and glowing pregnant, just remember that!
