Im 27 and have just finished a degree and uni. I have also moved back home, after living away for 3 years. I am now in the process of looking for a job.

What do people think I should do, move out asap and pay loads of rent, or stay here for a while and save some money up and plan for the future.

Living with people is not a problem, neither is doing the washing, bills etc its all very easy. Though I don't want to move our for the sake of moving out. Get some of this debt out the way too.

Am in the UK

  1. I think some family time would be good for now :) You can stay with family & get a job (the experience would be good too) but dont live off your parents either, especially when your self sufficient now. Chip in with the bills or groceries :)

Besides, once you get married, you'll probably be getting a place of your own. Treasure the time left with family. Also gives you the opportunity to save up for that awesome future ahead :)

    All the best! :)

  2. Stay stay stay!

Enjoy this time period while you can!  Save your money and start your career.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with using the resources at hand.  If you have the luxury of a good relationship with your parents and are able to coexist with them for a while then by all means do!  My little brother is 28 and is doing just that.  He is working full time and able to put money away for a home and pay for a nice car while looking for the right girl and enjoy a social life.  Otherwise all that money would be going to rent and utilities and he would have absolutely nothing to show for his time spent in school.  He has already paid back his college debt and only been out 2 years.  They leave him to do his own thing, he pretty much has the "front of the house" and they have the back.  They share the kitchen.  Girlfriends are no problem etc and having friends over is no big thing either...most of them have known mom and dad since they were kids anyway.  I think your plan is superb and the longer you can hold out and hole up with your folks the better your future finances will be!

Help out around the house, do some cleaning, your own laundry, take out the garbage, pitch in some for groceries and heat, cook dinner once in a while, and don't run up the phone bill!

I wish I had this fate.  I have a mortgage, utilities, taxes, groceries, the works!  (no car payment or student loans though)  Living with mom and dad would be so nice...of course I have a husband and two kids to move in as well!
