...that President George W.Bush has done a good job for the country? I am a Democrat, and if Gore or Kerry had done such a bad job, I would have wanted him out asap. Thank you for your honest answers.

  1. He didnt do the best job possible, but it could have been much worse. After we were attacked, he could have done nothing, and just let the terrorists get away with it. Like the democrats did during Clinton's presidency. But he didnt. He fought back.

Now, he probably should have not had the war go on so long, but really, if that is the worst thing he's done, it's really not a big deal. Yes, people die in war, but if we hadn't gone to war, who can guarentee that Iraq wouldnt have attacked us, or harbored terrorists that were planning to attack innocent civilians. You cant guarentee that. Yes soldiers are dying, but it would be considered worse if we have another 9-11 incident where innocents die. And as for pulling out now, if we do that, Iraq would likely be overrun by terrorists, and they may take control. That really can't be a good thing...

No one can predict the future, but I like to think that any other president would have done a far worse job. Most others would have done the wrong thing and listened to the majority of voters (who are in most cases, clueless about foreign policy and war). All people can see is the short term benifits. Such as employment and the housing market. Realistically, that is all of Congress's fault. The president doesnt control the budget, Congress does. The president may influence it, but its entirely Congress's responsibility. Also, the economy during Clinton's term may have seemed better, but all his policies focused on the short term to make him look better. Actually, all the effects we are feeling now are due to the Clinton administration being clueless about economics (or maybe they werent clueless, just wanted to look great for those 8 years...)

Simply put, most Americans are uneducated about everything the government does and has the power to do. And economics. If people would educate themselves, the world would be a far happier place...

  2. He is a man of his word.  You don;t have to like all of his policies, but you have to respect the fact that he has always done what he said he would do.

I know Dems hate to hear it, but we haven't been attacked on our own soil since we took the fight to the desert.

  3. I have voted Repulican in every election since I was eligible to vote(1978) With regard to  Iraq I agree with his decision to topple Hussein but the way it was executed was very flawed. As for domestic policy I think he has been ok except for the issue of oil. He should have quickly taken steps to curtail speculation on Oil Futures as it looks like Saudi Arabia and even Iran now seem to be contemplating.Overall I think he gets a C+

  4. I don't think the administration has been perfect and there are some things I'd want done differently.  However, I think we would be in a lot worse shape having had either Gore or Kerry as president.

  5. You can note only 3 accomplishments of the Bush Administration:

    1. Bush Tax-Cuts  - Probably the only arguable positive note of the Bush Administration. Arguably kept the economic going after  9/11 until now.

    2. No Child Left Behind- Fell apart, no longer funded, but its still on the books

    3. Iraq War - The Final Straw. Basically made him untrustworthy and was the beginning of his lame duck presidency which started after he beat Kerry.

But Bush had lots of great ideas: Fixing Social Security, Economic Incentive Zones, Even Drilling for Oil.

But after the Iraq war even most republicans didn't trust him and nothing got done. Great ideas but the only thing that got carried out was the Iraq War. Which did nothing to help us the people.

  6. Bush has allways been a figurehead on the ship called America...It is what we the people haven't done that most effects this last 8 years...In 6 months Bush will be gone and someone else will have to be the figurehead of a badly listing vessel...Vote them all out...give our leader line item veto powers...limit handouts...cancel subsidies and tax breaks...balance our budget while reversing our debt. Basicly vote for only those who will work for the better of our worthy idea.
