  1. come on now - no one is excited over gas prices. It's only going to make things worse.

  2. With people spending more of their incomes on fuel costs, they will have less disposable income to invest into energy saving technologies. Rising gas prices are going to take away alot of the grassroots power that people have to change their own patterns and habits. Sure, it is forcing a degree of conservation, and that is good, but without structural and cultural changes, a certain amount of driving is still going to be necessary. And those big changes need resources and capital to get them off the ground.

  3. Heck yeah.  This is exactly what our economy needs.  I think will bring on a second Golden Age of Rail.

  4. Higher gas prices have helped curb so much driving, and hopefully these people with big gas guzzling cars  will get a clue. It's also helping everyone be more aware of our environmental issues. All these are very positive changes which will be hopefully made permanent and even improved on. However, there is a hardship in the fact that food prices are skyrocketing and all construction, etc. that need to travel for their work have had to increase their prices and these things are hurting families with so much extra costs. I hope somehow we can keep the good parts and work out solutions for the not so postive aspects.

  5. That's not true at all. The higher the prices the more people pay. Most just won't go with out.

Plus the higher the gas prices the high the cost of everything else that needs to be transported.

Also many fields that were once used for food crops are now being used for fuel crops therefore again pushing up the prices of food and meaning that the poorer are again the worse off.

I'm afraid your 'question' is both ill-informed and naive.

  6. I can hardly wait for them to even triple so people get the hint to conserve and get the dumna@@ hummers and monster trucks of the city streets

  7. as bad as it sounds, I do love it... I've been wondering how it would be like to live in the old ways... with all that carriage and no pollution.... heck, what I won't give to live in those days... but it means a lot to give up this stuff too, but all the same it's really good

  8. I know, that rocks, :D maybe then those pulluting jerks will buy a hybrid,!!! Come on gas pplz, keep raisin' the bar!!!! (I am an envrionmentalist too) and care about the environment!

  9. It's great and all, but the thing that worries me is how high the price of delivering all our daily living supplies will go over this.  If you are an environmentalist that actually puts out the effort to plant your own food and sustain your family on your own, you won't feel as much pinch because your seed prices will go up and maybe some farm supplies.  What about us poor schlupps who have to buy food at the grocery ... the fuel prices rising is going to keep crunching us ... so be careful what you wish for kiddies   :)

  10. I hate it that it had to get this high for people to be interested in conserving.
