  1. It really depends on the movie... many movies are rated PG but are actually well rounded for some kids.. my neice is 7 and is obsessed with the harry potter movies.. she has been watching them since they first began coming out.. they are all over her age limit on rating but are acceptable for the level at which she is at... I believe alot depends on the childs level of understanding and comprehension as well as the content of the movie..

  2. maybe, it depends on the content, sadness, death, sexual content, etc...

You should watch it to make sure that its appropriate.

  3. As long as you are there while she is watching, yes. Any show is okay as long as it does not include cussing, sexual content and too much violence.

  4. No i do not. But it depends on the child's maturity. Most movies though will only have little content that is "parental guidance needed" material. (lol) Anyway i'm pretty sure when i was 7 i watched PG movies because they are not bad or anything. Girls are more mature than most boys so if you're buying it for a 7 yr old girl it would deff. be ok.

  5. Nope.

But remember that pg does mean that a parent should watch it with kids.

  6. no...PG is ok for my daughter...she is 7.

  7. The ratings are to keep us as a society in check for moral and decency issues I think most of it is B.S.. watch it yourself first then make an informed decision on weather or not that child in particular is mature enough or just plain ready to deal with the content of the video then discuss any issues or concerns you have with that child if you decide to give it to them.

  8. Depends on the video.  My kids have watched Star Wars, Willow, and the Princess Bride -- all are PG.  Like others have said, just make sure to watch the movie with the child.

Also, if the movie is a gift for someone else's child, you might want to ask the parent first.

  9. No Question at all, movies are over rated, as long as there is no sexual content in the movie it's nothing she/he hasn't heard before, seen before, etc.

  10. If you are asking me as a parent if I like it when the Aunts of my children buy PG Rated movies--or DVD's  my answer is NO--and if you would like to give my children PG anything I would want you to talk with me first and see how we feel about it...

    Parental Guidance is that Parental...

If you ask me if I think that PG movies are okay--Well, I will decide after I watch it first and make a decision, until then I take the warnings as a reason to Watch Them first and decide...  My daughter is 10 and there have been VERY few PG movies she has been permitted to watch and the TV Channels Lock on any PG rated program....

  11. as long as their is no swearing and sexual content i would buy my 6 yr old one. you have to see what contents is in the movie to make it a certain rating.

  12. PG, not at all inappropriate in my oppinion.  Is it your neice?  I'd say judge by what her parents let her watch.  Aunts and Uncles always seem to spoil the neices/nephews a bit too.

  13. It would depend on what the dvd was.  I would think one with a lot of cursing would be in appropriate but the way they rate movies these days it is all up to the person.  For goodness sakes shrek is rated pg and my 4 yr old niece has seen it.

  14. Not in my home it's not.  Even Disney puts out PG rated movies.

  15. I let my 7 year old son watch most PG movies.  If you are buying it for someone else's kid, you might want to ask the parents first.

  16. There are certain PG movies I would allow my kids to watch and ones I won't , but in general I think that PG is okay!

  17. watch the specific movie and decide. pg is usually alright , but best check it out yourself

  18. It would depend on the child's maturity and the reason it has a pg rating.

  19. Depends on the film.  In general, though, a PG movie is not appropriate for a six or seven year old.

  20. probably not, must movies are over rated, it would depend on what the movie is....

  21. My kids (3 and 5 1/2) have watched a few PG movies that I've already seen.  I pre-screen everything to make sure it's up to our standards, which are pretty high.

Usually we watch it with them anyway to be there for guidance.

  22. It all depends on which movie it is. Some PG movies are fine, others are obnoxious. It's not so much the rating but the content that counts.  Different parents hold different standards.

  23. A PG movie probably has something in it objectionable or it wouldn't be PG-maybe sexual innuendo, swear words, etc. Why buy a PG when you could buy a great G rated movie like Mary Poppins, although that one probably came out before the current rating system. I'd stick with G.

  24. Depends on the movie and the child. You of course should see the movie yourself before deciding.

  25. I would definitely preview it, but I see no problem with PG movies for that age group.

  26. Parental Guidance is the key phrase here.  I wouldn't have a problem with a PG movie for my girls (5&6) as long as I had seen the movie myself before.

  27. Eh, I don't see anything wrong with it. The parents can always watch it first before allowing the child to (that what I do with PG-13 for my preteens).

  28. It depends on who is buying the movie.  If it's someone who is an important role model for my child, I would trust their judgment in buying the movie for my child.  We shouldn't be sheltering our children from everything, but rather, we should be raising them to learn how to live in a world that is not perfect.  PG movies are generally not inappropriate for little kids.
