  1. The paint will go on smoother if you prime it first. However, you do not HAVE to prime the wall unless trying to pain a much lighter color over a much darker one as the darker one will almost certainly bleed through.


  2. depens on the color.  if painting over a darker color you will need to.  otherwise you do not have to, but it would help the paint go on smoother

  3. Color don't matter. The only thing that matters is the base of the existing paint. If the new paint has the same base then no primer needed. Two coats of paint will cover any color light or dark.

  4. It depends on the color, and the quality of the paint you choose. If you're painting over a lighter color, chances are it will cover with one coat. Painting over a darker color, may require 2 coats. Painted surfaces usually don't require priming. Remember latex paints will not adhere to oil base finishes
