To people who believe in actively converting people to their religion, whatever it may be...?

How do you define a person's real conversion? Is it the state of their heart, which we cannot know, their actions, or their words?

Do you believe that there is anything at all wrong with trying to convert someone?

Do you believe that the end justifies the means, if it means someone converts?

Do youo believe that it is all right for someone to force someone else to convert on pain of death, torture or threat of death or harm to their family?

And under those circumstances, would you convert from your religion? Would you pretend that you had?

Please, be respectful of other's beliefs and avoid the thumbs down, this is not a right or wrong question, it is asking opinions. I will give out no thumbs down and ask that you please do the same, as this is meant to be a respectful question on a forum for adults.

  1. I think that conversion belongs to God, not me.  I have a responsibility as a Christian, and it is to tell people about the gospel of Jesus.  What people do with what I tell them is their choice.

Forced conversion upon threat of death is not okay.  It is an abomination against the most precious gift God has given us--human life.

  2. action-faith w/o works is dead.besides, getting saved in itself is an action/no, God sais to/No/No, I would like to think I would hold firm/No/

  3. 1. If they have been Born Again, that means God abiding in them.

    2. Not at all.

    3. Absolutely.

    4. No, because it would not be a true conversion.

    5. No because I will never deny Christ.

  4. I think ( in my opinion) it depends on how you go about converting someone. Imposing  your beliefs on another, is very wrong and ill-advised. Sharing your beliefs in an inviting manner, then leaving the  the decision up to them on whether on not they wish to convert, is probably the best way to go about it. Some  people are well in their intentions, but simply do not know how to go about "sharing the faith".

I think it is wonderful and kind gesture that someone might want to share their faith with another person. However, if you are not interested all you need to do is say no thank you.

Edit: no one should pay no heed to extremists, they give those who are really trying a bad name.

  5. I agree with Ruth

  6. As a non-believer, I don't believe in converting people.  If someone is a Christian or Muslim then that is their choice.  There are many paths to a good life.  Religious people gain benefits from their religion that makes them better.  Most have built their lives and families around it.  Why would I want to destroy that?

  7. no one can convert anyone except God. all i can do is show you who God is through my words and actions. if i show you love then it is God. if i show you hate it is satan. if i show forgiveness it is God if i show bitterness it is satan. if i show mercy it is God if i show condemnation it is satan. if i show compassion it is God if i show apathy it is satan. all i can do is show you the character of God.

    Peace!!
