  1. it doesn't matter. as long as you play well.

  2. it would help if you do but if not you can be a libero who cant serve anyway. you could also have someone switch in for you to serve i mean on my team not everyone is good at serving. when you try out for a team just ask the coach to help you serve i mean when i first tryed out for my schools volleyball team i didnt know anything about volleyball but they thought me everything and now im great at the sport so just ask for help its not a bad thing and good luck

  3. you don't need to know how to serve to play volleyball, altho it would be nice. i play volleyball i played fresman BENCH i did not even know how to serve eather. i was out all the time. but once they put me in i showed my stuff and they moved me STARTING VARSITY. i took my team to state.. good luck!! and best wishes

  4. You need to know how to serve...

    serving gets the game started!!!

  5. if you arent that geat of a server your coach will help you learn to be a better server most likely... Last yar when i first tryed out for the volleyball team i wasnt good at all but no i make it over the net... also a great way to get better is  to play this game with your team where you  each serve over the net and where the vball makes it you go and lay there and if another person serves and hits you , you go back up  and serve again. it isnt that hard to get the hang of it.. just practice and you will get better... but i dont think you really need to be able to serve that  good... altho it helps your team out alot.. but if you can bump it and set it.. and make it so ur team gets their turn it should matter.. as long as you have fun with it..... byes** hope it helps

  6. In volleyball i think u rotate on when u serve. But either way u need to go out for the team. The coaches will help improve on ur serving.

Now wheter u start or not. Yes being able to serve may affect that but still dont let doubt get in the way.

  7. you have to know how to serve but you don thave to be the best at it.

  8. It certainly would help, although serving is just one aspect to volleyball.  If it's 2 on 2 than It's more important, but if its 6 on 6 or more, then you can get away with a less than perfect serve.

  9. Go and play for that team.  You can always get better!

  10. No c**p!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Youre in trouble

  11. OF COURSE.. trust me on this one >>> I've been playing volleyball for more than 10 years now and the first thing that my coach back then impressed on me is to make a SURE SERVE.. it doesn't have to be anything fancy but a SURE SERVE is IMPORTANT ... until now, I only serve underhands but I sort of developed the trick on doin' it, my opponents always thought I have a KILLER SERVE (yet it's only a plain underhand serve -- mastered tru time.. hehehe ... ) See, it doesn't really have to be fancy but make sure that everytime u serve, it goes tru the other court ...

  12. serving is a good thing to be able to do but not necassarily i started varsity as a freshman in highschool and all i did was hit and serve...i never played back row so you could survive...but coaches like girls dat can do it all..but yea u can play

  13. of course you need to know how to serve because what if ur position is gonna be server, then ur in trouble if you dont know how to serve...so yes you do need to know how to serve

  14. sure you have to coz servings in the team rotates so if you dont know how to server, your gonna get in to trouble =>

  15. Yes and no.

To play the game you do need to serve. So practice so that instead of getting 0 points on serving for your team you get a few points.

During practice: Practice underhand then once you get good at that do overhand. Just keep practicing until you really get it and can make it over the net multiple times.

During the Games: Use what you know from practicing. Even if you aren't very good still it won't hurt your team to much if it a 6 on 6 volleyball game.

    Hope I helped.

  16. From personal experience, it does help a lot with making the team if you know how to serve. If you don't there are other posibilities, you could play libero or you could be taken off when in the back row. If you can hit well then you probably will pick up overhand serving extremly fast. You can also underhand serve. In indoor volleyball serving is important but you could get away with underhanding as long as your other skills such as passing setting and hitting are good. You could always go to a few camps to update your skills as well as learn how to serve, or ask an older member on your team to help you out with your serving. good luck <3 :D

  17. alot of practice, alot of determiation, alot of skill, and alot of faith just get your coach how to show you and practice that over and over and soon you will get it.

  18. Yes

  19. it would help and make you a better player but they can always sup you out of the game for a better server. or sup you in to play defense after some one else served

  20. if u know how to play push that is more than enough

  21. ummm YEAH. serviving is a major part of the game.

  22. it would really help  mostly overhand for a  top team under hand for the bottom teams but that isn't always true

  23. It would help your chances of making a team.  If you cannot serve, chances are you need to make gains with your strength.  Start a weight program.

  24. yes of course... i'm a former varsity player in our school and my coach would scold us if that ball does not get into the other side of the court through service... because a service could be compared to a free throw in basketball its like your chance to get a score... so you should learn how to serve whether over head or underhand... =)

  25. At some grammar schools like where i live you don't necesarily need to know how to serve overhand untill the 7th and 8th grade and underhand u\is really easy if you keep your forearm straight.

For Highschool you absolutely positively need to know how to serve overhand (jump serve too maybe) block spike bump set and any other skills.

    Hope it helps!!!

  26. When I played my first year of senior high school ball I was one of the best hitters on the team.  The only problem was that my defence wasn't up to senior level so I only ever played front row and someone came in to serve and play back for me.  For my first year of senior it was a pretty nice job.

  27. Yes of course. Though sometimes I flunk with my service, it just requires more practice and more focus on the game itself.

  28. it would help some... me being a volleyball player of 6 years would know...
