  1. I used to be home schooled and I was a MAJOR freak if somoene even said a word such as freak i'd freak!! majorly and then id cry to my mom about it! I had no friends and people thought I was a freak

but not all homeschoolers are freaks I actuelly new a LOT of really cool home schoolers the freaks are the ones who were homeschooled Very young

  2. I know that public schoolers usually end up with a skewed view.

I have always been very quiet and nerdy. I was that way in school, my parents were that way in school; it's a family trait. I come off as quite a freak job, no matter how hard I try to counter that.

In contrast, this kid I know who ends up in a lot of my classes is a complete a*****e, always has to be right, is loud and obnoxious, argues with the teacher, and always manages to drag me in to whatever his little crusade of the moment is.

However, that's to be expected. I mean, the people who are normal won't stand out.

People in the system tend to see every trait you have as a negative one that can be directly attributed to homeschooling. If they're that narrowminded, that's not my problem.

(It's not an inherent trait in the people; it's what the system does.)

  3. Well, they are people so some are obviously different than others.

But, in my experience, home schoolers were more introverted around other people.

Either that, or they had gotten into too much trouble at school.

    ;)

  4. I just started home schooling my autistic daughter.  I like it much better.  Our schedule is flexible.  There's no stress or pressure.

  5. I find homeschoolers different, but in a good way. They aren't so much into the trends and following the crowd. They feel more like it's okay to be nerdy. They also relate better to adults.

  6. i found them absolutely no different. for some reason they had just as many friends as i did lol.

  7. Well I was never in public school, but I have never had someone who went to school ask me if I was homeschooled.  In fact, most people are surprised when I tell them I was homeschooled because I am so 'normal'!  I don't know if 'normal' is a good thing or not, but I have never had a public schooler tell me I am different than them except to tell me I was so outgoing.  Go figure.  Now that I am in college, I usually don't hang out or study with people that were public schooled becuase I have found them to be lacking in studying skills, and way to concerned with partying and doing what 'everyone' else is doing.  I have a great group of home/private schooled friends that are much more enjoyable to be around.

  8. I'm homeschooled now, but I admit to being a little ignorant about homeschooling when I was young. We knew a homeschooler in our neighborhood who was very different. Very opinionated, not too bright, outgoing but kind of rude, and if the tiniest spat ever broke out over a toy or a game (we were in elementary school) she'd have her mother at my house within an hour to try to make my mom make us make up. Looking back though, this wasn't due to homeschooling. I know now that I had a lot of friends in soccer and at the park who were homeschooled at the time (and still are). But I couldn't tell. I just thought they were smart and went to a different school than I did. I think the kid I mentioned above was a product of her upbringing, not her education. I think even in public school she would have been the same way. Maybe worse. Usually homeschoolers are only different from public schoolers in positive ways.

  9. Home schoolers tend to be not smarter but more capable to learn on their own.  They have just as many friends if it is done right.  They are generally more independent, responsible, and compassionate.  Those are things that public school does not know how to teach.
