To raise water say 20 ft, can I use either centrifugal pum or reciprocating pump?

Reciprocating pumps are used for high head and low flow application.Further maintaining the reciprocating pump is also somewhat difficult in compare to centrifugal pump due to pulsating flow.

You can go for centrifugal pump as head is not high and you can get the desired flow with centrifugal pump .
