I have been an at home mom for 10 years....My children are 10 and 5. I am active in their schools and active with their after school activities. I cook, I clean, I am active with my family. I do all the motherly things, important things for the family that a mom should do. It definatly fills up a day. Should I get a part time job and have to miss out on some of the things my kids do. Or do I stay at home and find myself alone until 4p.m. everyday? Now that my daughter is going to school full time I will be without my little partner in crime. I know i iwll get a little bored if I stay home but I don't want to miss thier activities. What about an at home job, are their any "real" ones out there? I need advice I need to decide what to do before next school year starts. HELP

  1. To me, it sounds like you know the answer to your own question.  Why do you want a job?  Does your family need the money or would you just like to stay busy? If you don't need the money, consider volunteering your time somewhere.  This will keep you busy for a couple hours during the day, but it will be very flexible as opposed to a job.

You could also try babysitting for a couple hours during the day for another family.

I think you'll be fine.  Being alone may take some time to get used to but you will get used to it.  The day will go by fast.

Now that your daugther is going to school, maybe her teacher could use a volunteer for a couple hours a week.

In regards to at home jobs, try researching something called Virtual Personal Assistant.  This would be your own business and you could act as a personal assistant for a few people.  Set your own hours and create your own business.  It is legit, will keep you busy and give you the flexibility you need.

    Good luck!

  2. Find something to do that won't hinder you from spending the priceless time with your kids!

Whether a job you fully manage from home (there are lots of possibilities) or a hobby/interest. You can also think to go back studying with an online course...study a second language...lots of possibilities!

I think it is important to keep your mind active and at the same time keep on being such a wonderful mum!

    Do both!

WE CAN DO IT ;) !

  3. My mom is an at-home mother and I think it made a big difference to us knowing that she could be around right away if we got sick, or got in trouble. She kept daycare kids for years, but doesn't anymore- other people's children can be a bit much when you have your own to take care of, but it was the best way for her to stay available to the five of us. If you can afford to stay home, it can be a blessing in terms of keeping the house chores caught up without the little ones' distractions, too!

  4. i think you should just get a wee part time job something like 11-3 that gets you out the house but you will still have time to spend with your family. most emplyers nowadays are more than happy to help out with working hours etc. is also means that if you wanted to take a day off to help out with school trips etc then it shouldnt be a problem

good luck with whatever you decide

  5. go to the school and ask if you can volunteer for them... while your kids are in school... they always need helpers for this that and the other.. I'm sure you will be able to find something you can do at the school . this way you can be free to still do the activity's you are use to with the kids after school...

    cheers

  6. I work from home so I can be home with my children.  I do medical transcription, legal proofreading, and word processing and light bookkeeping for a couple of small corporations.  Depending on your skills, you could try and do these things.  It's hard to get set-up and find clients but once you get the clients, the work is great.  Please feel free to e-mail for more info if this is something you think you could do.  Good luck!

  7. I have been going over and over with this for a while but I do work right now and thinking about quitting. See, the thing I think you may have trouble with is it is her 1st year of school so you will want to be able to volunteer to go on field trips and stay home with her if shes sick and all that good stuff. Theres no reason to do it if you dont need the money. Stay home. Enjoy the time to yourself, you have probably never had any! I would stay home for at least a year. Or just make sure you consider everything.

  8. would there be a job at school you could get, that way when their at school your at work when there's no school you don't work

  9. check out selling things on ebay if you do it with enthusiasm you'll make good bank and you won't be bored just find your niche and your in like a dirty shirt!!!

  10. Try to see if you can work at there school doing anything. That is what I did, stay home if you can. They are only young once and it goes by so very fast. Good luck to you:)
