I went to the doctor for something minor. She did not know what was wrong with me so she took blood. From the information gathered she said my white blood cell count was at 15000 and i had a really bad bacterial infection. She said it was a really bad Upper Respiratory Infection as well. I feel some what ok. She wanted me to take a week off of work but that cannot happen! I am a manager of a retail store with 4 employees and no one can cover my shift. Plus I'm the only one who seems to get stuff done around here and my owner will not care if I'm sick. She (the doctor) wanted me to stay home for at least 3 days. I do not really feel sick other than a sharp stabbing pain in my upper back and a little flem. Should I really miss work? Do you think it is that bad? She also sent my blood for further testing.

  1. Its either take a few days off to recover, or

go to work, get even worse, be out of work for even longer, and have your health at risk.

    I know what I'd choose.

  3. Listen to a nurse hun, yes you need to stay and rest at home, I know this day in age its hard as women sometimes have more demanding jobs than men! But yes you must rest. High count of white blood cells, are a natural reaction to a bad infection/inflammation, when over 15,000, normally it should be around 10,000. The sharp stabbing pain means you must rest, and allow your immune system to fight the infection. Take care, anything else drop me an email x

  4. you should listen to your doctor. if you go to work. your gunna be pushing yourself whether you feel it or not and its going to take longer to get better whereas if you stay home you can rest and relax and be better in no time.
