To the British on Yahoo! answers... how do you see most Americans?

Also, what do you think of the American accent? How would you describe it?

From what I've read on this site, a lot of Americans seem arrogant and stubborn - but I understand that what I see on here is hardly a wide horizon. I know that a lot of Americans can be friendly, chatty and helpful, determined and follow their dreams etc.

I find it funny that some Americans don't seem to get our sense of humour. It's more witty/smart. I watched Eddie Izzard (British comedian, very funny and well known) do a stand up in San Francisco, and you could tell that the audience didn't know what to laugh at half the time :P Even though what he was saying, was hilarious.

As far as accents are concerned, sounds hot really. I prefere northern over southern myself, but then I find it hard to tell some of the accents appart in the US, probably as you would in the UK.

Most Americans are polite, respectful...but like all societies, we remember the bad ones.

Most Americans cannot get the British sense of humour, especially the ironic side of it.

Most americans have been poisoned with political correctness.  It's a blot on the development of the human race.

If I want to call somebody a fat ugly minger, then they have the right to call me a lanky buttface.  End of.

Most americans are too religious.  Some of that god stuff on TV is more outrageous than the blinkered side of muslim, lose it, it's embarrasing.

The accents are fine.  I personally like the Southern drawl, so long as it's spoken by an educated person, not some banjo that's never been out of the woods.

Americans are fine, very nice people, who have always made me feel welcome when i have visited your country.

Also my girlfriend is American, and so i adore her

and her accent is quite cute

some American accents, are ok, some are very nasaly and annoying, and some, like the Southern American accent is as bad as nails on a chalkboard to me.

i prefer the accent from the North East of the U.S

I have nothing against Americans at all, but honestly, I find the accent annoying. Sorry if I offend you!
