  1. Fast paced, impersonal and EXPENSIVE

  2. For most New Yorkers it's not like s*x in the City or Friends.

It would be great for you to go to NYU.  Being a student is a great way to experience New York.  NYU is in the Village so you will have plenty of shops to sightsee, once you get old enough there are lots of bars (if you're into that).  On Halloween there is a huge parade down either 6th or 7th that you can participate in.  There are museums, zoos, botancial gardens and parks to visit and lots of activities leading up to the holidays.

The summer has lots of free concerts throughout the City.

New Yorkers are no-nonsense and direct.  Some people may take it as being rude, but that's what happens when you live in an overcrowded city where people are actually interacting.

Oh how could I forget,  great food from many ethnicities.

  3. My friend, NYC is a very fast pace city, and one of the most expensive too. Its going to take some adjustment, but, I think you can manage it.

    Good luck

  4. its good if ur a ******

  5. I'm there all the time (I live in Jersey though)

It's a great experience. Traffic and noise are the only cons about going there. So much to do, shops, food, everywhere you look. It's my favorite place to go for the day (better than anywhere else in US) :)

  6. I agree that going to NYU is a great way to come here and see what it's like to live in NYC.

I came to NYC to attend NYU in 1977, and I decided to just stay here, I liked living here so much.

As to what it's like to live here, at NYU,  you can live in the dorms, which isn't as much fun as living in an apartment, but if you live in the dorms, you can actually afford to live in Manhattan, in the Village, no less! That's a wonderful place to be for a young person, first coming to NYC!

What's it like to live here? It's fabulously stimulating! You'll meet lots of people who are not like you at all! You'll hear tons of different languages spoken in the streets! You'll see beautiful architecture. You'll go to world class museums, and to all kinds of theater (not Broadway, that's more for the tourists, but the smaller, institutional theaters, where more interesting stuff is happening.) You'll ride the subway, and walk, and walk, and walk, and walk!

It's all fun, and it's all interesting! It's also far more than I can describe. But I'm sure you'll really love it. I certainly did, and still do!
