  1. Marie-Ségolène Royal by the way not American or French but Irish have been following the French elections for weeks here.

  2. I rather suspect that Ségolène Royal will win but I liked what Nicolas Sarkozy said in his speach.  It will be too much, too quickly for most...too bad.

    I'm from the American South.

  3. American here - I'd vote for Segolene, just because she's the hottest looking candidate for President I've ever seen!  I also have Socialist tendancies, so it works for me!

You French have a quite a political battle ahead of you - a three-way tie in the first round of elections.  I'll be watching what happens.

  4. I am French, living in the US, so I'll vote on Saturday instead of Sunday because of the jet lag. Most expatriates in the US tend to vote for the right, but according to the French embassy, lots of people have registered to vote: maybe the left will win this time...

  5. I am an American and I have been following the election.  I would be torn between Sego and Bayrou.  In this round, I would probably have voted for Bayrou.

I definitely would not vote for Sarko.  He is just a French speaking George W Bush.

  6. As an American (and francophile :) ), I would vote for Sarkozy.  I wrote my thesis on franco-american relations, and I think he would undoubtedly improve relations between our two countries.

  7. I'm from Wisconsin, America, and I'd vote for Marie-Ségolène Royal.

the world needs more socialists, more people with dreams that are idealists and politicans.

And she's a woman!!!! Politics defiinately needs more of them!

PS: your english is perfect except for the "for who will you vote" part

It makes sense, but it should be "for whom would you vote" or "who would you vote for"

The last is the best, and it has to be 'would' because you are asking a 'if' question.

  8. If I were French I would vote for Bayrou.

I do not know if it is possible to bring France together at the center but it should be done.

(I have the same concerns about the United States where the Left and Right have become so alienated that rational discourse has become almost impossible. )
