Did you have any formula at home just incase there wasn't enough milk or there was a problem with feeding.. I am a little worried in thinking if some how my milk isn't enough and the baby is starving and crying if he doesn't get a proper feed? I am only 37 weeks but I am just concerned if this has happened to anyone and is it safer to have it on hand just incase?

  1. If it will give you peace of mind to have bottles/formula on hand just in case, then I would say to go for it!  It doesn't hurt to be prepared... and it will be one less thing for you to worry about!  :-)

  2. It's always nice to have a backup plan handy, even though the lactation consultants will tell you it is easier to give up if you have formula and bottles around...and nowadays, there are stores open 24 hours a day, and it wouldn't really be a big deal to run out and get some in case of an emergency. Its really up to you. I personally, have some on backup...I bought the playtex drop in bottles, because I will be pumping when I return to work and wanted to use those, and when your pregnant you gets boat loads of free samples of formula, so I have those just in case, but you have to be confident that you CAN and WILL do it. :) It's nature's way...even though the other way is fine too! lol

  3. No. Keeping a bottle in house, "just in case" will make your breastfeeding efforts fail. Offer the breast as often as your baby needs it. More sucking makes more milk.Your milk will be enough.
