Question:

To travel to the Netherlands you need 'proof of cash'? How does that work?

I'll be staying in the Netherlands for a week to visit my boyfriend who lives there. I've never traveled abroad and I'm not sure what to do. I read that you must have a passport, a returning plane ticket, and proof of cash. Since I'll be staying with my boyfriend and he'll be paying for most of my things (hotel, food, etc), I wasn't really planning on bringing much cash with me. So how does the proof of cash work? And how much would I need to bring?

  1. it is true. Since the Netherlands is a country which is inside the "Shagen" area, you have to give proof that you have aprox. 50 Euros for each day f your stay (cash) + proof that you have a return ticket and also that you can afford the hotel. Since you are visiting your boyfriend, he should send you an "invitation" letter (I guess there is a form for that)

  2. I traveled to The Netherlands for a month last year and know nothing about a "proof of cash".
