Question:

To wear Favre Jersey or not to Wear

I've been a Packer fan for years. I've always prided myself and the Packer fans on backing the Pack no matter what. I'm also a realist...and have to say that I'm disgusted with the situation with GB and Favre. I think he's being selfish. I know that he's emotional and probably having a hard time with dealing with retirement; but he's going about this all the wrong way, in my opinion. So, I have this Favre jersey that I'm proud of; and now, I don't know if I even want to wear it! Should I? I stand behind the Pack and when Brett played for them and that's what the jersey represents. Embarrassed by his behavior now. On top of that; I can't believe how poorly the Pack "fans" are treating Aaron Rodgers. Come on, people, it's football... and it's the Packers! Stand behind your team; not one player!

  1. Yes I believe you should wear it.  He is the face of your franchise, and no matter what happens or what other team he plays for, he will always be a Packer.  None of this would even be a problem if the Packers management would have just let him back in the first place. I mean come on!  Who wouldn't want Brett Favre?

  2. Brett was your team who got y'all that far last year. He is being like that because he is still great and is probably one of the best football players to ever play back your legend no matter what both sides should have done it different but he is a man they are a organization of men and that whole not trading him **** i wish he would go to the vikes and they kick gb *** god the pack disgusts me right now treat players right

  3. i think these look pretty cool, though.

  4. Yes wear the jersey, it is the packers that are being jerks about this whole thing, not favre. Plus he is not like some player that came and went  in a few years, he is a legend. wear it with pride

  5. Yes, you should wear it whenever you want....or don't wear it for a couple of years and let Favre really retire. It is still a symbol of your team and Favre was/is a huge part of that.

You are right that "It's Football" and football is a game but the NFL is a business and Favre fully realizes that. One of his first lessons was when the team that drafted him (Atlanta Falcons) traded him to Green Bay. I really don't think this has anything to do with money (imagine if Favre took 20 million to not play - can anybody say blackmail) just the fact that is is very hard for somebody to give up something that they are very good at. I still expect Favre to eventually sign a one day contract with GB so that he can officially retire that way. Jerry Rice will be rembered as a 49er and Emmitt will be remembered as a Cowboy no matter where they really finished their playing career.

Green Bay was put in a bad situation and it is hard to run any business without fully knowing what cards you have to play. Most people don't mention that GB drafted two QB's this year, fully expecting that Favre was out. I'm sure that both of those picks would have been used at other positions to build and add depth to the team.

I do think that Aaron Rodgers and the Packers Management are going to be on the losing side of this through no fault of their own. Rodgers will be on a very short leash from most fans this year and even his wins will be viewed as games that Favre would have won by more points. Thompson and Coach will be viewed as the people that "forced" Favre out until they can win a SuperBowl without him.

The only person with the Packers that benefits off this soap opera we have been watching the past few weeks is.......Brian Brohm. He is a good young QB that will become a fan favorite just because he is not Aaron Rodgers. He will be called on to replace Rodgers everytime he throws an incompletion and the fans won't care if he throws 2 INT's in a row.

  6. I'm my opinion, once a player is traded, you need to put that jersey on the shelf until that player is really retired.  Once, Favre retires, and stays retires, than you can pull that jersey out of your closet and wear it again.

  7. OOOooooooh my...that is a tough one! Coming from a Viking fan...football fan...and someone that has worked at my stadium for 14+ years now (selling novelties)...YES...wear it! He gave your team MANY good years of football!!! You have to remember as a fan, as much as football is a "team sport"...it is a selfish profession. You said it yourself, "I stand behind the Pack and when Brett played for them and that's what the jersey represents." If I were you, I would stand behind that statement! Plus, just because you like(d) Favre...doesn't mean that you can't support Rodgers...get his jersey too ;) As a Viking fan I would proudly wear the new (not that it would ever happen) Favre jersey...and you should wear the old Packers one too...RUB IT IN OUR FACES...I dare you! (I would think..."ahhh, what could have been"...................)

Just like a loved one that follows the wrong path...
