  1. These days most hospitals don't have a fleet of ambulances. If a hospital does have an EMS department it is normaly a single paramedic working out of a SUV not an ambulance. Most ambulance services are either city, county, or private services. City or county can be part of a police department, a fire department or be a seperate department.


  2. Most ambulances I know of are privately owned by a company and city or county financed. They do not belong to any unit of a hospital. I guess this may not be true in all city/county situations though.
